City fills spots on October election, canvass boards

The Seward City Council appointed several residents to the Election and Canvas boards on Monday during their regular election. In all, nine residents were placed on the two bodies.

Named to the Election Board for the upcoming October 3 municipal elections were Mark Kansteiner, Patty Linville, Sue Faust, Gary Seese and Kerry Martin. Dorothy Osenga, Quentin Carr, Jennifer Carr and Kristi Larson were appointed to the Canvass Board. During the election several key spots on the Seward City Council will be filled, including the role of mayor.

Tim McDonald and David Squires are vying for the mayoral position. Incumbent mayor Jean Bardarson is not seeking re-election.

Incumbents Deborah Altermatt and Sue McClure and newcomers Katie Cornwell, Jeremy Horn and Suzi Towsley are running for the council seats.
