The Seward High School Seahawks will try to get on the right track this weekend when they face off against the Homer Mariners. The two Peninsula Conference rivals will meet at 2 p.m. on Saturday on the SHS field.

Seward, 1-3 overall, will be trying to snap a 3-game slide when they take to the field. The Seahawks are coming off a 36-14 loss to Redington last Friday in Wasilla.

With the loss to Redington, the Seahawks are now 0-1 in conference play. The Seahawks have been outscored by a 126-14 clip over their past three games.

Homer, on the other hand, rolls into the showdown with their cross-peninsula rivals on a high note. The Mariners, sparked by the return of running back Teddy Croft, have won three straight games, including a 59-14 victory over Ketchikan last week.

Croft missed much of the 2016 season because of a broken leg.

After opening the season with a 21-8 loss to Kodiak, the Mariners have reeled off wins over Barrow (26-14), Valdez (66-0) and Ketchikan.
