JV girls battle to 4th in their first outing of season

HOMER – The Seward High School Lady Seahawks' junior varsity volleyball fought its way to a fourth-place finish this past weekend at the Homer Jamboree. The SHS girls suffered a narrow loss to Kenai Central in the third-place match.

The Lady Seahawks more than held their own during Saturday morning's pool play stage. Seward pounded out a 3-3 mark in the action and finished in a tie with Homer for second in the standings. Seward split its two games with Homer, dropping Game 1 by a 21-7 clip before rallying to win the final game, 21-12. Homer advanced to the championship game to face Soldotna by virtue of a 5-point scoring advantage in their two games.

Soldotna defeated Homer in the JV championship game.
