Kinney, Ballou earn 'Master' honor


Two City of Seward employees received prestigious honors recently. Seward City Clerk Johanna Kinney and Deputy City Clerk Brenda Ballou were presented with certificates as Master Municipal Clerks by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), a professional organization for municipal clerks based in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Kinney and Ballou were recognized for their accomplishments by members of the Seward City Council at their last meeting. Both received their certification from the IIMC on June 20.

“In light of the speed and drastic change (in events) these days, lifelong learning is not only desirable, it is necessary for all in local government to keep pace with the growing demands and changing needs of the citizens we serve,” IIMC President Mary J. Kayser said. wrote.

Kayser noted that the IIMC honors only those clerks who have completed demanding educational requirements and have a record of significant contributions to their local government and community.
