Curious bear creates slight delay in city's paving efforts


The City of Seward’s road improvement plans came to a brief half this past weekend. Not because of inclement weather or equipment failure, but because of a curious bear.

Seward City Manager Jim Hunt noted that KNIK Construction workers were forced to halt paving work on Dieckgraff Road on Sunday when a bear began digging up the freshly paved surface. Hunt said the bear left the site without incident after tearing up a huge portion of the asphalt. Crews repaired the damaged surface before continuing their work.
