Annual SHS booster club tourney set for July 29 at Birch Ridge Golf Course

If you like to play golf and love to support the athletes at Seward High School, then you are in luck because Seward Sea-hawks Athletics Booster Club has a way for you to do both.

The Seward Seahawks Athletics Booster Club’s 14th annual golf tournament will be held next month at the Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna. The tournament, which helps raise funds for SHS athletics, will be played July 29.

According to Kim Reierson, the format for the tournament will be a “Best Ball Scramble” and will get under way at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Last July, Seward High School principal Trevan Walker teamed with Gene Minden, Linda Murphy and Dale Shea to take the tournament’s team title. The Closest to the Pin winners a year ago were Dan Murphy and Lori Draper. The Longest Drive contest winners were Byron Loomis and Lori Draper.

The cost to enter this year’s tournament is $100. The entry fee includes admission into the longest drive and closest to the pin contests, as well as two mulligans.

Last year, the tournament raised in excess of $4,000 for the SHS athletic programs.

Individuals interested in participating can contact Reierson at 362-1888 or via e-mail at skiprei@gci.net.
