Five to vie for city council seats

The deadline for picking up city council seat election packets has come and gone. City Clerk Johanna Kinney confirms that candidates for the October election are Dale Butts, Ristine Casagranda, Marianna Keil and John French for the two-term seats and Iris Darling for the one term seat. In the next several weeks, the LOG will provide stories about the candidates and their position on city issues.

Tax aides needed

Please contact Nancy Osborne at 224-8006. Her and her husband are retiring and moving out of state.

They provided more than 300 residents of Seward tax services in 2014, savings of $300,000 in taxes. At least 14 years of tax services in Seward.Thank you for empowering the low income and senior community of Seward

Orca Island named to prestigious list

Congratulations to Orca Island Cabins for being named to the Top 30 Island Escapes by Sunset Magazine. Orca Island Cabins is owned by Dennis and Susan Swiderski, located at Humpy Cover on Resurrection Bay.

Preschool scholarships

“Seeds of Faith” Preschool has openings. Children must be 3-5 years of age. Preschool meets 9-11:30 a.m., three mornings a week. Scholarships are available. Seward Arts Festival picks theme

This year the theme of the Seward Music Arts Festival will be Fantasy. This can range from dragons, wizards and faeries or artist interpretations of the theme. The theme of the Seward Music and Arts Festival this year is Fantasy: think unicorns, dragons, wizards, faeries, etc… The festival organizers are looking for yooriginal artwork to display at the festival!
