Moose Pass bazaar is today

Moose Pass School is hosting an arts and crafts bazaar with at least 20 vendor booths of local artisans from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Moose Pass School Gym. There will also be a silent auction, bake sale, chili feed, face painting, family portrait booth and live music. Admission is free, and silent auction donations are welcomed from area businesses or individuals. All proceeds from vendor booth fees, bake sale, silent auction, and family portraits go to the Moose Pass School Student Activity Fund. Garden club organizes

The newly formed Resurrection Bay Garden Club will hold its first meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 in the Seward Community Library basement (Fifth and Adams). The gathering will be a seed swap, and meet and greet for those who are interested in gardening. Participants are also asked to bring photographs of their gardens to share. Pit Bar jump team raises funds

The Pit Bar’s Polar Bear Jump Off team will hold a fundraiser from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. The evening will include a silent auction and chili cook off. Funds raised for the Polar Bear Jump go to the American Cancer Society and Kenai Peninsula cancer relief programs.

Flood meeting planned

The Seward/Bear Creek Flood Service Area holds its regular board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 in the Seaview Plaza Building, Kenai Peninsula Borough Annex Office, Suite 122. The public is invited to attend. On the agenda is board recommendation for KRC9764 ADOT&PF permit to clean out culverts and ditch along Seward Highway at mile 7, discussion regarding state funding for capital improvement projects and update on the state public assistance process. Casino Night aids family

To raise funds for Finn Federer, an infant who recently underwent surgery for a heart defect, Chinook’s Waterfront will host a Casino Night from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24. The evening will feature a taco bar, live music, door prizes, silent auction, poker and blackjack. Auditions for winter play scheduled

Auditions for Port City Players Winter Theatre production of “Duck Hunter Shoots Angel” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 27 and 28 at the Legends Building at Fifth and Washington. The play is about two bumbling hunters who have never shot a duck, but think they shot an angel. As they lament their fates in a murky swamp, they are chased by a cynical tabloid journalist and his reluctant photographer. The play interweaves a love story, sibling rivalry and tawdry media. No experience is necessary to audition for the play. The show will go on stage at the end of February and the beginning of March. Contact Linnéa, for information.

SeaLife to host tree lighting and holiday party

Alaska SeaLife Center will hold their tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 followed by their community holiday party from 6 to 8 p.m. Santa Claus is expected to arrive by dog sled for the lighting ceremony. The holiday party is free and will feature cookie decorating, door prizes, photo opportunities with Santa and plenty of holiday cheer.

Holiday Arts and Craft Fair planned

The annual Seward Arts and Crafts Fair is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at Alaska Railroad Cruise Ship Terminal. Hosted this year by Kenai Crewsers, the fair will showcase local artisans, visits from Santa Claus and food booths. Information is available at

Academy Café open

Senior transportation available

Seward Senior Center provides transportation for seniors to and from the center from 9:15 to 10:50 a.m. Monday through Friday with rides home at 1 p.m. The center also provides weekly shopping trips to Safeway, True Value, Three Bears, Post Office and both banks, as well as local medical appoints. A schedule is available at the center at Third and Jefferson. Transportation requests must be made 24 hours in advance by calling 224-5604.
