Local woman dies in accident near Hope

Presence Bissonette, 37. a Seward Library staff member, was killed in an early-morning accident on the Seward Highway near Hope Junction on Saturday, October 14.

According to a report from the Alaska State Troopers, Bissonette died at the scene of the crash near Mile 53.8 when her Toyota Rav4 was struck by a Toyota Tacoma driven by Neng Thoa, a 47-year-old resident of Anchorage.

The trooper investigation indicated that Thao lost control of his vehicle on an icy patch of highway, crossed the centerline and struck Bissonette’s vehicle head-on.

A passenger in Thao’s car, Kaying Lee, also died in the accident.
