Athletic physicals

Glacier Family Medicine is offering back-to-school/sports physicals for $35 in August. To schedule an appointment contact GFM at 224-8733.

Aug. 26

Play time

Play time is held each Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. in the Children’s Room at the Seward Community Library and Museum. Musical instruments, storybooks and toys will be available.

Aug. 28

Founder’s Day

The Resurrection Bay Historical Society is hosting its annual Founders’ Day party at the museum on Monday, August 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be refreshments and door prizes as well as a program at 3 p.m. by Dennis McLain, who will present a model of the mailboat Dora that he recently completed. The famed and beloved Dora delivered mail and supplies to various ports and villages out the Westward.

Retirement party

The City of Seward Community Development Department will be holding an open house at the City Hall Annex Building, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 28, to celebrate Donna Glenz’ retirement after 26 years with the department.

City council work session

The Seward City Council will hold a work session on Monday, August 28, to discuss the 2018 grant year budget for the Seward Community Health Center. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

The regular Seward City Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Aug. 29

P&Z work session

The Seward Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a work session on Tuesday, August 29, beginning at 6 p.m. in the City Annex.

Sept. 1

First Friday

On the first Friday of every month various shops and businesses throughout downtown and the harbor area play host to artists and offer refreshments.
