Council OKs extension of height restrictions in south harbor area

Members of the Seward City Council voted unanimously on Monday evening during their regular meeting to extend the maximum height level requirements to include the South Harbor Uplands section.

With the extension, the maximum height for a building will be 26 feet from ground level. The move enables the South Harbor Uplands area to have two-story structures. The measure was approved by the council following a recommendation from the Port and Commerce Advisory Board.

In other action, the council authorized the city manager to purchase a replacement Boom Mower-Loader attachment. The equipment replaces the city’s existing equipment which stopped working after more than 20 years in service. The equipment, which costs $67,175, allows city employees to mow and maintain areas on the side of the roadways from the city’s front end loaders.
