Deadline nears for chamber logo contest

The clock may be ticking slowly toward the end is ticking for artists interested in getting their logo designs embedded into the state’s history books. Seward Chamber of Commerce officials announced last week that the deadline for submissions for the 2017 Mount Marathon, Seward Halibut Tournament and the Seward Silver Salmon Derby logo contests is Jan. 15, 2017.

The chamber kicked off the preparations for this summer’s activities in October when they launched the logo design contests for the three local events.

Individuals interested in submitting designs for one, or all, of the events should create high resolution, scalable vector files. Each design must fit on and 8.5x11-inch piece of paper and be no more than four colors. The chosen design will be reproduced on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and printed materials. The design chosen for each of the three events will earn the creator a $200 prize.

The creators of the winning designs will be notified at the end of January by chamber officials.

As part of the requirements for submitting a logo, the Silver Salmon Derby logo must include: Aug. 12-20, 2017, 62nd Annual, Seward, Alaska. A salmon or fishing-theme design in preferred. The Mount Marathon design should include: July 4, 2017, 90th Running, Seward, Alaska, runner’s logo must include “Finisher,” and must incorporate a mountain theme. The halibut derby must include: June 2017, Seward, Alaska. A halibut or fishing design is preferred.
