Seward resident Patricia Ann Johnson, 62, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at home after battling lung cancer.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.

Patti was born June 16, 1954 in Anchorage. She grew up and graduated high school and had attended college.

Patricia worked at Spring Creek Correctional Center from May, 1988 until retiring on June 30, 2016.

She enjoyed photography, planting flowers and her greenhouse. She also enjoyed berry picking, fishing, the beach, walking her dog, Wicket, and giving to others.

Her family wrote, "Patti loved fishing and teaching children to love fishing. She loved her family, putting them before herself. She gave in so many ways to others. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. Patti loved nature and exploring with her family. She also taught children our traditional values by example. She also saw the beauty in everything. Her favorite saying was, 'right on.'"

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Bertha Sanders. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Johnson of Seward; sisters, Virginia Wilcoxson and husband, Jim of Stillwater, Okla. and Mae Faucett of Swisher, Iowa; brother, Vic Sanders and wife, Becky of Frankfort, Ind .; nieces and their spouses, Mandy and Tom Taylor of Waterloo, Iowa and Annie and Mike Wenstrup of Fairbanks; nephews, Jamie Wilcoxson and wife, Megan, of Anchorage, Dan Faucett of Waterloo, Iowa and Justin, Jarrod and Josh Sanders, all of Frankfort, Ind .; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
