Lady 'Hawks 2nd at Su Valley

Ruby Lindquist, Emma Moore and Sadie Lindquist each raced their way into the top 20 on Saturday and helped spur the Seward High School girls’ cross country team to a second-place finish at the Su Valley Invitational in Talkeetna. More than 200 runners from throughout the state participated in the event.

Ruby Lindquist continued to establish herself as one of the state’s top runners by posting her third straight top 5 finish. She finished second in the Su Valley final standings by completing the 5-kilometer course in a time of 19 minutes and 20.95 seconds. Glennallen’s Briahna Gerlach was first at 18:20.55.

Lindquist has enjoyed a sparkling effort over her last three outings. In addition to her second-place run in Talkeetna, the SHS sophomore took second in the Kenai Borough meet and won the Frank D Invitational in front of her home fans.

Moore and Sadie Lindquist also did well in the 83-runner field. Moore finished 12th overall with a time of 21:10.83. Sadie was 19th at 21:49.

As a team, the Lady Seahawks amassed 66 total points and finished behind only Grace Christian in the team standings. Colony was third.

Coral Petrosius and Tanis Lorring also finished in the top 25 in the girls’ race. Petrosius was 24th with a time of 22:20.36. Lorring took 25th at 22:20.80.

Also competing in the meet for Seward were Emma Armand (38th, 23:31.49), Ally Chryss (39th, 23:36.23), Sophia Dow (57th, 25:37.63), Hayley Unrein (60th, 26:56.34), Nele Hohenstein (67th, 28:16.46), Kalista Rodrigues (69th, 29:18.07), Madilyn Moore (73rd, 30:21.54), Rebekah Christianson (74th, 30:33.75) and Daisy Terry (82nd, 36:23.25.
