Seahawks set to kick off preseason drills on 27th

 


High school athletics will officially return to the Kenai Peninsula in a matter of days.

Like the other small-school programs around the state, the Seward High School Seahawks will begin their 2016 preseason football drills on July 27. According to the ASAA activities’ calendar, teams can begin practice for the upcoming season next Wednesday.

Seward, which competes in the Peninsula Conference of the small-school division, is scheduled to hold preseason drills through the ensuing two weeks before opening the 2016 regular season on Aug. 13 with a 2 p.m. matchup against Ketchikan.

Cross country athletes from throughout the state will also swing into action on July 27. The Seward cross country runners will open their regular season on Aug. 13 by participating in the Colony Invitational.

The high school volleyball and swimming teams will swing into action on Aug. 3 when they begin their preseason drills.
