SPRD seeks volunteers to help with parks

The Seward Parks & Recreation Department is reaching out to local residents in an effort to preserve one of the community’s parks. Through its ‘Repainting P.A.R.K.S. Playground’ initiative, SPRD officials are seeking volunteers to clean and paint various items at Community Playground (next to Evan Casey Skate Park) at Ballaine Boulevard and Adams Street.

SPRD will close the playground for two days so volunteers have time to clean and paint. Shifts are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 and Wednesday, July 20. Volunteers can sign up for shifts online at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090c49aeae2ca5f58-volunteer

SPRD will supply everything needed for the project.

Some of the things that need repainting are the train, the crab, the fire truck, the tree house fort, the sled dogs, the boat, and the historic faux store-fronts.
