Obama, Bear, Exit Glacier on TV tonight

While in Seward this fall, President Obama filmed an adventure TV show at Exit Glacier. That episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” airs tonight on NBC – 9 p.m. on KTUU.

The two hiked in the Exit Glacier area, shot selfies and stopped at the foot of the glacier. There they boiled water for tea made with berries and cooked a bear-killed salmon.

The reason for the President’s visit to Alaska was to give focus to climate change and see its effects up close. He and Grylls discussed climate change as well as the family life of a President. They also prayed together.

“One of the best days of my Presidency,” Obama said of his Seward visit.

For the series Grylls usually takes celebrities on a two-day adventure in the wild. However, the Obama episode was filmed in just a few hours at Exit Glacier.

Kenai Fjords National Park staff helped coordinate the filming and Adventure Sixty North staff assisted the filming crew.
