'Captain's Mast' - Dec. 10, 2015

 


The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Nov. 25

08:00 - Individual reported the Lowell Point Waterfall was running really dark water and at a noticeably decreased volume.

10:34 - SeaView turned in expired medication to be destroyed.

12:29 - Individual reported an accident at Mile 24 Seward Highway. AST, MPVFD, SVAC and BCVFD dispatched. MPVFD advised to cancel BCVFD and SVAC because patient refused treatment.

Nov. 29

22:49 - Caller reported a co-worker threatened to beat up her boyfriend and threatened to go to her house, and she has a 6-year-old child at home.

Nov. 30

04:24 - AST requested an ambulance to Mile 35.5 Seward Highway. AST dispatched MPVFD.

10:42 - Citation for expired registration issued to Dean Kasischke at Third and A. Verbal warning for speed.

12:42 - Citation for fail to show proof of insurance issued to Sara Woltjen at Iron and Seward Highway. Verbal warning for speed.

12:54 - Verbal warning for speed given at Safeway.

14:42 - Individual turned in expired medication to be destroyed.

15:54 - Caller from Seward Senior Center reported the greenhouse they use had been damaged. The estimated cost of repair was $150.

16:13 - Ambulance requested to Seward High School.

21:44 - Officer contacted a driver at Fourth and Port Avenue. She was pulled off on the side of the road, parked halfway in the merge lane. She said she had pulled over to text and would move her vehicle.

21:56 - Individual went into SPD to speak to an officer about false charges on his credit card. Officer spoke with the reporting party, and then accompanied him to Chevron where the false charges were listed. The clerk was unable to pull up the past receipt. The reporting party was advised to contest the charge with his credit card company and a message was left for the Chevron manager.

23:20 - A taxi driver requested an officer to the Yukon Bar about an individual who took the keys to the taxi and refused to return them. The subject took the keys after his own keys were confiscated due to his intoxication. Officers responded. The subject was trespassed from the Yukon Bar for one week, given a disorderly conduct warning, and advised no more bars for the night.

Dec. 1

00:28 - Citation for speed issued to Patrick Ian Sharrock at Third and D.

01:10 - Individual at the Chamber of Commerce reported someone shot at him from a moving vehicle with a paint ball gun outside of city limits. Officer took photographs and would forward the case to AST.

11:06 - USCG would do a pyrotechnic exercise at Thumb Cove in Resurrection Bay from 16:30 to 19:00.

14:40 - A juvenile was charged with MICS VI at the high school.

18:28 - Individual requested an officer to the ER about a subject who was at the ER after being criminally trespassed for one week barring a medical emergency. Officer contacted the reporting party, who said the subject was there for a medical emergency, but just wanted SPD to be aware of her presence.

20:20 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Sonja Lynm at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Verbal warning for speed.

Dec. 2

01:05 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.5, 55 miles northwest of Valdez. No tsunami was anticipated

08:00 - Officer requested to the middle school for student who was causing a disturbance.

08:14 - Verbal warning for impeding traffic given at Mile 4.5 Seward Highway.

09:39 - Individual reported that her vehicle’s tire was flat at No Sweatt Auto.

12:39 - Officer requested to Safeway a vehicle parked in a handicap space. Officer issued a citation for parking in handicap space to Leif Olson.

16:02 - Verbal warning for failure to illuminate head lights after sunset given at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

18:11 - Citation for head light requirements issued to Elizabeth Sutphin at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

19:16 - Citation for head light requirements issued to Kurt Fackler at Third and Van Buren.

Dec. 3

00:53 - 911 caller requested an officer to the waterfront campground to assist with her intoxicated husband. Officers arrested Martin Alexie on charges of DV Assault IV and took him to SCJ.

05:26 - Verbal warning for speed given at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

07:14 - Ambulance requested to Spring Creek Correctional Center. SVAC/SVFD responded.

07:15 - Ambulance requested to Salmon Creek Trailer Court. SVAC/BCVFD responded.

09:00 - Three Bears reported a vehicle had been parked on their lot for a few days. Officer placed an abandoned vehicle notice on the vehicle.

14:12 - Officer requested to the middle school for a disturbance.

17:27 - Verbal warning for failure to illuminate head lights after dark and failure to carry driver’s license given at Third and C.

17:46 - Citation for head light requirements issued to Elijah Wessel at Fourth and Railway. Verbal warnings for failure to carry driver’s license and failure to obtain an Alaska driver’s license after 90 days.

Dec. 4

05:53 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

08:15 - Officer requested to the middle school for a student causing a disturbance.

10:20 - Ambulance requested to meet LifeMed at the airport. SVAC dispatched.

10:40 - Citation for fail to show proof of insurance issued to Richard Jordan at Third and Jefferson. Verbal warning for speed.

12:38 - Verbal for speed warning given at Seward Highway and North Harbor.

12:46 - Citation for fail to show proof of insurance issued to Joseph Sadler at Seward Highway and North Harbor. Verbal warning for driving too fast for conditions.

13:35 - Ambulance requested to meet LifeMed at the airport. SVAC dispatched.

Dec. 5

00:28 - 911 caller from Evergreen Group Home requested an officer to the home to transport a subject to the hospital to be evaluated because of comments he had made.

08:32 - 911 caller requested that the fire department respond to Kimberly Court Apartments in response to an alarm going off and water flowing.

09:47 - Ambulance requested to pick up a flight crew and provide transportation to and from PSMC.

12:30 - 911 caller from SCCC hoped to confirm the death of an inmate’s family member. The reporting party said the death occurred in a different part of Alaska. The caller was advised to contact the authorities in that area.

14:24 - Citation for speed issued to Ronald Stallings at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot.

18:00 - Verbal warning for improper display of tags and for head light requirement issued at 211 Bear Drive.

18:06 - Verbal warning for head light requirement issued at Third and A.

18:13 - Verbal warning for head light requirement issued at Third and B.

18:24 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Julie Christine Doepken at Seward Highway and Safeway. Verbal warning for failure to carry driver’s license.

18:24 - Caller reported a possible theft. Caller had laborers help her move the day before and had noticed items missing. Officer found some of the missing items in the reporting party’s apartment. Officer suggested that she wait until after her move was complete, and do an inventory prior to filing a formal report.

19:32 - Individual dropped off prescription drugs for disposal.

20:17 - Citation for head light requirement issued to La Keshea Denise Parker at Seward Highway at Essential One.

Dec. 6

02:26 - Lifeline Services advised that a subject at Glacier View Apartments was in need of a non-emergency, non-medical lift assist. Officer assisted the subject.

02:56 - Police from Lacey, Washington dispatch called and reported one of their officers pulled over subject who was listed as a missing person out of Seward.

11:11 - Verbal warning for speed given in the Essential One car wash parking lot.

12:45 - Verbal warning for speed given on the Seward Highway near the Air Force Rec Camp.

15:22 - Citation for speed issued to Ezekiel Coble at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

16:51 - Trooper requested an agency assist at Wolf Trail Circle off Nash Road for a domestic disturbance between a father and son. The son was intoxicated and pounding on walls. The father wanted him out of the house.

17:01 - Verbal warning for head light out issued at Third and Monroe.

18:36 - Trooper arrested Michelle Deneice Fillingim for DWLS and took her to SCJ. Trooper was waiting on a search warrant on the vehicle stopped at Safeway parking lot and needed an SPD officer to sit on the vehicle until warrant was obtained.

20:24 - Structure fire reported by phone. Fire was in the second house on the right on Rabbit Run in Nash Woods Subdivision.
