Seward will be full of Halloween fun this weekend. It started last week with the Pumpkin Prowl and a Family Masquerade Ball last weekend.

Tonight the Port City Players dinner theater production at Chinooks begins and plays Friday and Saturday, too. The evening features a Mexican four-course dinner and a chilling show with ghoulish tales in prose and poetry. Tickets are $45 per person $10 goes to the Seward Arts Council. Tickets are on sale at Chinooks.

Tomorrow Seward Senior Center is hosting pumpkin carving from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Following the carving is a costume contest during the seniors' lunch of Ghoulish Goulash, Pumpkin Soup and other Halloween treats.

Also on Friday, the Skip and Marie Fletcher Movie Series presents a couple Halloween classics. For the younger set "Beetlejuice" (rated PG) shows at 6 p.m. and "Rocky Horror Picture Show" (rated R) for adults at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale for $1 per person at the door a half hour before show time. The films are shown at the UAF Rae Building at Third and Railway. Concessions this week will be available from Seward Brownie Troop 250.

On Halloween day, Saturday, traditional Trick-or-Treating is planned for downtown from 2 to 4 p.m. Look for orange flyers with an image of a pumpkin, where tricks and treats will be distributed.

In Moose Pass on Halloween a carnival will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the school.

Then from 6 to 9 p.m. the big event is the annual Community Halloween Carnival at the cruise ship terminal. The carnival offers games, food and fun to the community. The carnival is hosted by Seahawks Athletic Booster Club, Seward Parks & Recreation and Teen and Youth Center/Teen Rec Room Councils.

For those who like libations with their celebration, in the evening the Yukon Bar's Halloween Bash has live music with the Eternal Cowboys and a costume contest at midnight. Tony's Bar has a dance party planned with DJ Sean at 9 p.m. Seward Alehouse will celebrate the holiday, but plans weren't available at press time. The Pit Bar will have a barbecue from 8 to 9 p.m. and a costume contest at 10 p.m.
