LOG asks for help questioning candidates

From The Editor

On Oct. 7, we will be asked to vote for three seats on the Seward City Council, for the Kenai Peninsula Borough mayor, three propositions and three Bear Creek Fire Service Board seats which are unopposed. As a relative newcomer to Seward, I would like your help as I go about providing a platform for voters to engage with candidates. The Sept. 25 issue of the LOG will be devoted to elections as well as the Seward Music and Arts Festival. I will be presenting candidates with questions and printing their answers so they can speak in their own voices. It would be helpful if residents submitted questions to me so I can turn around and pose relevant questions to the candidates. The candidates for city council are Dale Butts, Ristine Casagranda, Marianna Keil and John French. These four candidates are vying for three seats. In the Kenai Peninsula Borough mayoral race, there are three candidates: current mayor Mike Navarre, Tom Bearup and Caroll J. Martin. You can email me your questions at or drop them by the office on Fourth Street. You can also mail questions to P.O. Box 103, Seward, AK. 99664. Submissions are needed by Sept. 12 to provide enough time for me to submit questions to the candidates for the Sept. 25 edition of the LOG. I look forward to hearing from you. I look forward to a productive dialogue between our readers and the candidates.
