Seward USO Building, circa 1947.

In January 1942 a prefabricated building was installed on a lot donated by the City of Seward to serve as the USO (United Service Organizations) building for the service men and women in Seward during World War II.

It was located on the now vacant lot just north of the present City Fire Station on Fourth.

Town residents often joined service men and women at the dances, programs, card games, hobby organizations and band concerts at the building.

The building was torn down around 1965.
