The Alaska Marine Highway System ferry Aurora parks at the Alaska Railroad Cruise Ship Terminal pending some time in drydock at Seward Ship’s. Also in Seward, the AMHS ferry Tustumena whose months-long major overhaul is rapidly being completed. The Tustumena’s route used to include Seward until 2005 when cost-cutting and the construction of a new dock in Homer prompted the removal of Seward from the operating schedule. The Aurora was originally destined for routes in Southeast, but replaced the retired M/V Bartlett in 2005 to provide service to Prince William Sound.
