Thanks for a great derby
Letter to the editor
On behalf of my family and all the participants in the 2012 Seward Silver Salmon Derby, I would like to thank everyone who assisted with this prestigious annual event.
We fished our first derby back in 1981 and the event continues to be conducted in a professional manner that brings credit to our great little town.
Thanks to all the chamber staff, especially Cindy and Erin for all the endless hours of planning, coordinating and canvassing of sponsors.
Then there was the actual operation of the derby booth during the derby — long, long hours. Preparing the derby guide alone is a major task.
Thanks to the sponsors that generously donated money and/or merchandise.
Perhaps the biggest “thank you” should go to all the volunteers; without you this event could certainly not take place. You are to be commended for selflessly donating of your time and effort. There are many of the same faces at the derby locations year after year. I do not intend to slight anyone, so if you supported the derby in any way, THANKS!
