Seward Middle School’s wrestling squad continued to improve and impress onlookers with its performance at Soldotna Middle School’s annual Rubber Chicken Tournament Jan. 21.

Of the 10 wrestlers taking the frigid ride to the other side of the peninsula, four made it into the championship round. Sully Hauze and Paxon Berry both lost in the finals against some extremely talented and experienced grapplers, while Jonathan Kingsland and Thomas Zweifel took home the vaunted Rubber Chicken trophy along with undefeated (5-0) records.

The Silvers wrestling squad travelled to Nikiski Jan. 28 to compete before taking a week off to rest for the Seward Middle School Duals Tournament Feb. 11 when SMS will match up against teams from around the Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak.
