After proving herself one of the top cross-country athletes in Alaska, Seward's Ruby Lindquist is ready to take the Lower 48 by storm. And she'll get her chance as a member of the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets.

The 2017 Class 3A state runner-up, Lindquist highlighted a busy week of signings in Alaska when she inked a letter of intent to run next season at BHSU in Spearfish, South Dakota. One of the state's most-heavily recruited runners, she chose Black Hills State over more than a dozen other programs.

Black Hills State University is a 4-year NCAA program that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"Ruby is going to be a great addition to our team," said BHSU coach Scott Walkinshaw. "She should make immediate contributions to our program."

A senior at SHS, Ruby is the daughter of Irene and Dave Lindquist of Moose Pass.

Lindquist joined several other Alaska stars in signing recently. Last week, Barrow's Travis Adams and Grace Christian Tobin Karlberg signed to play basketball at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Former Barrowstar Kamaka Hepa signed to play at the University of Texas.
