This month’s history program at the Seward Library Museum on Thursday, Nov. 16 will give details about how a historical atlas of downtown Seward came to fruition.

Resurrection Bay Historical Society has invited Kenai Fjords National Park archaeologist Patrick Lewis to explain the efforts that went into producing a 185-page book that shows changes over the years in Seward’s downtown district. The publication draws on historic photos from the RBHS and Seward Community Library Association collections.

Starting at 7 p.m. in the community room, Lewis will share particulars about the impetus of the project and will show examples of how the national park used Sanborn insurance maps, aerial images and historic photos to track changes in Seward’s downtown district.

The event is free and open to the public.
