Planned repairs at the Lawing Substation over the next few days could leave residents north of the Snow River bridge without electrical service for brief periods.

According to Jeff Estes, operations manager with the Seward Electric Department, the city will be making some major repairs at the substation on two different days and indicated customers could be without power for up to 30 minutes. The Lawing Substation is located near Mile 25 of the Seward Highway.

“In order to avoid possibly long term outages for our customers north of Snow River bridge, we are planning two short term switching outages,” said Estes in a release to the media on Monday.

Both outages would be about 30 minutes in duration.

Estes said the first break in service is planned for Thursday, October. 19, between 10 a.m. and noon. The second is planned for the following Thursday, October 26, at 1 p.m. but is contingent on completion of the repair work.

For more information about the planned outages contact the Seward Electric Department at (907) 224-4073.
