Seahawk JV takes 7th at Region III XC meet

The Seward High School Seahawks’ junior varsity cross-country team raced its way to seventh in the final team standings at the Region III Cross-Country Championships in Palmer. The SHS squad, led by Trapper Allen, finished with 185 points.

Allen turned in the Seahawks’ top effort, finishing 38th in the individual standings with a time of 21:39.94.

Teammates Clayton Peterson and Justin McMurray also did well. Peterson was 55th at 22:29.25, while McMurray was 62nd at 23:03.27.

John Moriarty and Cody Bryden rounded out Seward’s scoring totals. Moriarty raced his way to 71st with a time of 23:30.56, while Bryden was 90th at 26:41.85.

Joel Williams and Sam Paperman also ran for Seward. They finished 98th and 99th, respectively, with times of 28:55.70 and 28:57.81.

Maranatha Brueckner led the SHS junior varsity girls’ efforts. She finished 24th in her race with a time of 27:06.41.

Reanna Brewi, Madilyn Moore and Dania Schulze also represented the Lady Seahawks. Brewi was 61st at 33:33.71, while Moore and Schulze finished 66th and 67th at 24:35.93 and 34:56.57.
