The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Sept. 17

0001 - RP reported a sow and two cubs in her front yard at 603 Fourth Avenue. She is concerned about people walking up and down the street. Officer advised.

0003 - Citation issued to CATHERINE ANN SCHNEIDER at Seward Highway and Port Avenue for failure to carry proof of insurance. Verbal warning given for failure to stop at a stop sign.

0019 -Verbal warning given to LUKE ELLIOT SARGENT at mile 1.75 of the Seward Highway for headlight requirements.

0539 - Two ambulances are requested at the cruise ship dock

1848 - RP reported an intoxicated male removing road construction signs and flipping off cars at 6th Avenue and Madison Street. RP called again to state he was acting aggressive and wanted to fight. Officers contacted ERIC LEONARD and gave him a disorderly conduct warning, and advised him to go to a hotel for the night. Officer later saw LEONARD in the same area and transported him to a motel. RP reported that LEONARD was being aggressive at the Breeze Inn. Officer arrested LEONARD for Disorderly Conduct and transported him to SCJ.

1733 - Guardian Security reported a fire alarm at AVTEC Dorms 3rd Avenue. SVFD, BCVFD, and SVAC dispatched. Officer advised it was a water flow alarm that was going off. SVFD turned off the alarm and fixed the water flow. BCVFD was advised to stand down.

1746 - RP reported smoke coming from the northwest up on the hill. He was advised there is a burn permit in effect on Vista Avenue until the 18th. On duty fire officer was notified.

1815 - RP reported a black bear trying to get into her residence at Bayview Place. Officer used a less lethal round to scare the bear off. RP was given a warning about their trash. Officer checked nearby residences on Chiswell Street, Harold Avenue, and Phoenix Road and found no bear.

2247 - Ambulance requested to Fourth Avenue Boat Launch. SVAC/SVFD and officer dispatched for traffic control. Forms sent.

2356 - RP reported seeing a sow and at least one cub in the trees tearing up garbage at Fourth Avenue. The bear was gone when officer patrolled the area. No trash warning given.

Sept. 18

0202 - RP reported shooting at a bear that had charged him at Fifth Avenue. Officers found a blood trail and located the injured sow as well as her two cubs behind the residence in the alleyway. Officers determined that the sow was wounded on the foot and could care for herself but will monitor the area.

0406 - RP reported an intoxicated male underneath the stairs near Railway Cantina at Fourth Avenue. Officer made contact with GARRETT P PLETNIKOFF and transported him to the hospital for evaluation after a high PBT reading.

0706 - RN from PSMC requested an officer for an intoxicated male that is wandering around the hospital ER naked and won’t stay in bed. Patient got back into bed upon officers arrival.

1737 - RP reported a slowly sinking boat at the end of S Float. On call harbor moored the boat to the city boat for the night.

1822 - A citation was issued to SHERRI SILVA for failure to provide proof of insurance and verbal warning for speed at Seward Highway and Airport Road.

2108 - A citation was issued to NAO AKIMOTO for speed at Seward Highway and Port Avenue.

2227 - RP reported a loud noise at the Seward Community Library was keeping him from sleeping. Officer contacted an RV with a generator on and they turned it off.

2348 - Citation issued to FRANCOISE ZOE MARMILLION at mile 2.5 of the Seward Highway for speed.

Sept. 19

0005 - Verbal warning given to FRANCOISE ZOE MARMILLION at Seward Highway and South Harbor Street for speed.

0042 - SAST dispatch reported that subject who is intoxicated had an argument with her girlfriend at the Windsong Lodge on Herman Leirer Road. The intoxicated female left driving a red Toyota Corolla with unknown FL plate. Officers were unable to locate her anywhere inside city limits.

0505 - SCCC advised there is a large dead moose in the middle of Nash road. SAST dispatch advised.

0528 - SCCC advised there is a dead moose 50 yards before Star Lane on Nash Road. He was concerned as SCCC employees will be heading into work at this time. SAST dispatch advised. SAST dispatch advised that a charity had been called.

0618 - Harbormaster reported that the men’s bathroom has been vandalized. Officers found that the shower head had been ripped off the bathroom wall and trash strewn everywhere.

0657 - NTWC reported an earthquake 5.0 magnitude 45 miles NW of Amchika, Alaska. No tsunami is expected.
