Council promotes Ballou to clerk role

September 28, 2017 | View PDF

In the end, the Seward City Council only had to look just outside the city clerk's office to find a replacement for departing clerk Johanna Kinney.

On Friday the council voted to appoint Deputy City Clerk Brenda Ballou to fill Kinney's position. Kinney, who has spent more than a decade as the city clerk, will be stepping down on October 9 to accept a position with the Alaska SeaLife Center.

Ballou has resided in Seward since 2010. She was among three finalists for the position until the other two candidates removed their names from contention.
