Van Dyke, Allen lead JV 'Hawks to 2nd at Frank D Invite

Jaden Van Dyke and Trapper Allen both finished in the top 10 on Friday and led the Seward High School junior varsity to second in the team standings at the Frank Dieckgraeff Invitational meet. Overall, Seward had 10 runners participating in the 5-kilometer race, which was held on the trails behind the high school football field.

Van Dyke paced the Seward runners by finishing third in the individual standings with a season-best time of 19 minutes and 9 seconds. Soldotna's John-Mark Pothast and Jack Harris placed first and second, respectively.

Allen legged out a ninth-place finish with a time of 20:05. His time was a personal-best.

Cole Norcross, Justin McMurray, John Moriarty and Egor Sturdy also turned in solid outings. All four finished in the top 20, giving Seward six top 20 runners. Norcross was 12th at 20:53, while McMurray checked in at 18th with a time of 21:41. Moriarty and Sturdy both posted their best times of the season en route to finishing 19th and 20th, respectively. Moriarty's time was 21:54. Sturdy came in at 22:23.

Clayton Peterson and Ryan Miller finished 21st and 22nd, respectively, with marks of 22:27 and 24:30.

Sam Paperman and Joel Williams also finished. Paperman was 30th at 25:37, while Williams was 33rd at 26:19.
