Spanos, Seward swimmers splash their way to 7th at Homer Invite

HOMER – Connor Spanos and the Seward High School swim team splashed their way to a seventh-place finish on Saturday at the Homer Invitational. The Seahawks rolled up seven points in the boys’ division.

Spanos was among the meet’s top stars. He placed in the top five in two different events, including the 200 Intermediate and 100-yard Butterfly. He garnered a bronze medal for his third-place time of 2 minutes and 16.20 seconds in the 200 race.

He was fourth in the 100 Butterfly standings at 58:21.

Joshua Park and Karl Pfeiffenberger also did well. Park swam his way to 13th in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:29.35, and to 16th in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 30.40 seconds.

Pfeiffenberger placed 14th in the 50 Free at 29.41.

Lucy Hankins and the SHS girls also did well in the meet, although they did not compete as a team. Hankins finished seventh in the girls’ 100-yard Breaststroke, notching a time of 1:23.19.

She also teamed with Megan Koster, Kylie Mullaly and Fatima Suarez to finish eighth in the 200-yard Medley relay.

Suarez also placed 17th in the 50 Free and 100 Free races. Mullaly and Koster finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100 Free standings.
