The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 28

1020 - Fish House reported a male wearing a yellow headband, black coat , black backpack, take several snagging hooks and left on foot travelling southbound. Officer responded and made contact with RUSSELL AMBACHER and issued a Summons for Theft IV.

1040 - Verbal warning given to EVEREST HAYNES while driving at Ballaine and Adams for swerving. Officer advised that driver was swerving due to a large pothole.

1158 - RP reported a large column of smoke at approximately mile 1 Nash Rd. BCVFD/SVAC dispatched. BCVFD advised it was a brush pile.

1200 - RP reported missing a white girls Specialized bike with black tires, rims and a white seat and was last seen at the Skate Park. Info entered in Lost/Found Book.

1206 - RP turned in a found dog that was loose near the Lagoon. Officer met RP at the Animal Shelter and the ACO took the dog.

1353 - 911 pocket dial from Zudy’s Café. No sounds of distress, people talking. Officer advised.

1825 - RP reported a possible DUI in the Sealife Center Parking lot. He stated driver appeared to have been stumbling and having difficult driving in the parking lot. He also advised the vehicle ran a stop sign. Officers responded and determined the driver was not intoxicated.

1837 - Officer left a warning on vehicle JJB239 for parking against the flow of traffic at 4th Avenue.

1842 - Officer advised a California motorhome 7AKD029 to move at 4th Avenue for partially blocking the road.

1916 - Citation issued to JIMMY HOLLABAUGH for speed at Seward Highway and Airport Road.

1922 - A power outage was reported at Old Exit Glacier Road. On call electrical was notified and they fixed the outage.

1942 - MVA damage only at the Safeway parking lot was reported. Notice of financial responsibility forms were issued to both drivers. The estimated cost of damage is $2,000.

2033 - Officer left a parking warning on AK vehicle AUKE for parking backwards at 4th Avenue.

2038 - Citation issued to TALLAN BAUMFALK for speed at 3rd Avenue.

2207 - Citation issued to CHRISTOPHER KENT MCLAIN at Second and Madison for failure to carry proof of insurance, verbal warning given for inoperable tail lights, improperly displayed tabs and fail to carry registration.

2245 - A 911 hang up was received with no sounds of distress, upon call back subject stated she was working at Seward Mountain Haven and accidently dialed 911 when pulling her phone out of her pocket.

Aug. 29

0031 - The AVTEC Dorm attendant requested an officer to speak with subject who has been receiving threatening phone calls from her ex-boyfriend NICHOLAS CHRISTIAN KELLY. Officers made contact with both parties and issued KELLY a citation for minor consuming alcohol.

0220 - Resurrection Taxi reported that subject flagged him down and asked him to call dispatch to report the theft of his backpack. The suspect was located at the Icicle Seafoods Bunkhouse. The backpack and its contents, was not located.

0515 - RP requested welfare check on occupants of a Suburban pulling a trailer parked in front of the doors of Safeway with the driver slumped over the wheel. Officers made contact with passenger who stated the driver was in Safeway and they had been waiting for Safeway to open up.

0535 - Verbal warning given to RANDALL KUYKENDALL at Oak Street for speed.

Aug. 30

0739 - Safeway requested an Officer for a shoplifting suspect. Officer responded and KEITH AMBACHER had not taken anything but was Criminally Trespassed for 6 months. Advisement entered in APSIN.

1010 - Mountain View Sports turned in a wallet belonging to DAVID SCOTT. Info entered in Lost/Found Book.

1109 - 1E42 advised that he has seen subject driving around with a suspended license.

1149 - Sweet Darlings turned in a wallet. Info entered in Lost/Found Book.

1201 - 911 Elevator button was pushed accidentally. No sounds distress. Officer advised.

1429 - Chamber of Commerce turned in a cell phone that was found at the bus stop. Info entered in Lost/Found Book.

Aug. 31

0105 - RP advised of an altercation outside the Yukon Bar. Officer contacted BYRON JOSEPH, and TYRON BROWN. JOSEPH and BROWN were trespassed from the Yukon for the evening. No physical altercation occurred.

0601 - Verbal warning given to RYAN MCKINLEY at Seward and South Harbor for speed.

0655 - Citation issued to EINAR KRISTENSEN at 3rd and Van Buren for speed.
