Zen Petrosius raced his way to a top 35 finish on Saturday and helped carry the Seward High School boys’ cross country team to a solid performance at the Bartlett State Preview in Anchorage. Backed by Petrosius’ efforts, Seward rolled up 378 points and placed 15th in the final team standings.

Dimond High School won the team championship at the meet, which featured some of the state’s larger programs. West Valley placed second, just ahead of West Anchorage.

Petrosius headlined the Seahawks’ efforts by legging out a time of 17 minutes and 41 seconds. His mark enabled him to finish 32nd in the individual standings.

Max Pfeiffenberger also did well for Seward. He finished 65th with a time of 18:21.

Steven Osborn and Trey Ingalls added to Seward’s impressive outing. The two were among four SHS runners to finish in the top 100 in a field of 147. Osborn was 95th at 19:15, while Ingalls was 97th at 19:17.

Brendan McMurray, Samuel Koster and Cole Norcross also competed for Seward. McMurray checked in at 101st with a time of 19:22. Koster was 115th at 19:57, and Norcross placed 131st with a time of 20:46.

Seward will return to action this weekend when the team competes in the ACS 3K Class Challenge in Anchorage.
