Dana Erickson can officially claim to be Seward's best duck racer for the 2017 calendar year. She has the check to prove it.

Erickson won the Rotary Club's annual Duck Race event on Sunday afternoon at the Lowell Creek Waterfall. She was presented a check for $1,500 by members of the Seward Rotary Club later that afternoon at the awards ceremony for the 62nd annual Seward Silver Salmon Derby. The ceremony was held at The Breeze Inn.

Sam Clemens, Tim Fleming, Denise Hawks and Sam Paperman also pocketed money from the race. Each earned $100 for finishing fourth through seventh.

The duck race is held annually as a fund-raiser for the Seward Rotary Club. According to Rotary officials, this year's event generated approximately $6,000 for the club.
