Edward 'Ed' Eugene Ellis


Edward "Ed" Eugene Ellis, age 64, passed away from natural causes at his Kahiltna River Mine on July 12, 2017.

Edward was born in Connell, Washington, on April 19, 1953, to Ralph and Betty (Jacobson) Ellis.

Ed moved to Alaska in 1962 and was self-employed in the timber and mining business. He liked working to build roads allowing access to remote mineral deposits.

He was mentored in prospecting by Petty John. Ed had many dear Alaskan friends across the state.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty, and his sister-in-law, Linda.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ann Ellis, his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Gen; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Elizabeth; his sons Jedediah, Joel and Jason; his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Mark Russell; his step-daughter and husband, Zabrina and Kevin; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Andy Anderson; his brothers and sister-in-law, William, Steve and Martha; his nieces and nephews: Tracy and Christine, Tammy and Mike Svir, Erin and Kevin Lovell; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Jordan, Elizabeth, Caleb, Kylie, Zachary, Caden, and Nolan.

Funeral service and visitation were held on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Palmer, Alaska. The service was officiated by Pastor Andy Hendrickson.

Arrangements were cared for by Janssen's Mat-Su Funeral Homes.
