Animal shelter to hold 'Dress Your Pet,' BBQ event on Aug. 12

 


The Seward Animal Shelter will be holding an Open House and a special event on Aug. 12 as part of its ongoing efforts to raise funds for a new shelter facility and to thank the members of the community for their support.

As part of the event, a “Dress Your Pet” costume contest for animals will be held. Organizers will also offering a tour of the current facility to showcase the improvements and give locals the opportunity to meet the shelter’s inhabitants. Also, a barbecue meal prepared by the Seward Police Department will be available, as will a drawing for various prizes. Among the prizes are tickets for two on a Major Marine cruise, a $75 gift certificate to the Exit Glacier Salmon Bake, Gift Certificate for 1.5-hour massage. Tickets for the drawing are priced at $5 each or five for $20, and can be purchased from the shelter or police department.

The Open House will be held from noon until 3 p.m.
