Captain's Mast


The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

May 23

1624 - RP Seward Middle School called to report that he had two students in his office that he suspected were under the influence of alcohol. Officer responded and made transported (JUV) to Seward P.D to issue MCA citation. (JUV) was also issued a citation for MCA.

1645 - Providence Medical Center requested an officer for an uncooperative patient. Officer responded and helped calm him down.

1930 - Providence Medical Center requested an officer for a patient that had run away from the hospital with his IV in. Officer was unable to locate him.

1944 - Lifemed requested an EMS standby at the Mount Marathon trailhead. Lifemed requested a standby at the Jeep Trailhead and both Seward Fire Department and Seward Ambulance Corps were on standby. Lifemed was able to reach the patient and transported the patient to Providence Medical Center.

1951 - A verbal warning was given to PETER DOHRN at the Seward Highway and B Street for speed.

1957 - RP called 911 to report that her son had been bullied by a neighbor at Kimberly Court Apartments. An officer responded and spoke with RP. Nothing physical occurred and she was advised of her options in regards to the bullying.

2121 - RP requested an officer to the High School for a disruptive individual. Officer made contact with a KORBIN SIEVERTS and SIEVERTS was issued a summons for Theft III.

2235 - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 was recorded 100 miles southeast of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and no tsunami is expected to occur.

May 24

0840 - NTWC reported a 5.7 earthquake located 100 miles SE of Nikolski. No reports of tsunami.

0952 - 911 open line from the High School Elevator. No sounds distress. Officer advised.

1306 - 911 pocket dial from Mile 4 Nash Road. No sounds distress. Officer advised.

1318 - Officer provided transportation to PSMC for a prisoner.

1448 - D80 requested SVFD/SVAC to Seward and SeaLion for vehicle in ditch. D80 advised no injuries and cancelled all units. Officer responded and made contact with driver. Glacier Towing also responded.

1830 - Citation was issued to SHERIDAN BROWN at 3rd Ave and A St for speed.

1902 - Verbal warning was given to JORDAN DEREK at Sea Lion Ave and Seward Highway for speed.

2032 - RP reported an intoxicated male that was throwing sticks at cars parked in the Safeway parking lot. Officers responded and were unable to make contact with the suspected individual or anyone matching his description in the area.

2305 - Citation issued to ALEC LEWIS at Seward Highway for speed.

May 25

0013 - Citation issued to SUVIN KARKERA at Seward and Bear for speed.

0102 - Citation issued to SHYLO POLITO at Mile 1 Seward Hwy for operating a vehicle with expired registration. Verbal warning given for speed.

0506 - 911 hang up received from (907) *****. Caller would only give first name and hung up. No answer on callback. No sounds of distress.

0717 - SAST advised of a light colored station wagon crossing center and weaving from Mile 23 southbound. Officer advised.

0829 - D80 responded to the Middle school for a fire alarm.

0954 - RP requested an Officer to 2nd Ave to assist with retrieving his safe combination from the manufacturer.

1402 - Officer advised that an unoccupied pickup truck, AK LIC/AKMTHI rolled into a parked Subaru across from City Hall on Adams Street. Officer made contact with owners and PAR Forms were issued.

1415 - Elementary School had a scheduled fire drill

1758 - (JUV) called to give a description of her stolen phone.

2008 - Officer provided an escort for a veterans combat fishing tournament from Cruise Ship Terminal to Nash Rd.

2044 - Citation issued to THAVUN SRISANEHA at Seward Highway for speed.

May 26

1052 - D81 issued a burn permit on the top of Vista Avenue thru Sunday

1116 - RP turned in a Alaska Airlines Credit Card. Info entered in Lost/Found Book.

1504 - RP reported illegal campers at 4th of July area that were leaving trash all over. RP spoke with Officer.

1519 - Library requested an Officer in reference to people drinking outside the library. Officer responded and unable to locate anyone in area and spoke with RP.

1801 - Officer followed up on a call from RP about illegal camping near the Fourth of July Beach area. Officer made contact with the 2 parties and they agreed to move.

2037 - A 911 misdial was received from Resurrection Camping Area. No sounds of distress were heard during the call. Upon call back, a voicemail was left and an officer was advised.

2051 - SAST requested medics respond to mile 20 for a single vehicle accident unknown injuries. SVAC and MPVFD were toned out and SAST requested SVAC stand down. MPVFD responded and provided traffic control.

2102 - Verbal warning given to KASI MUSUNURI at Seward Highway for speed.

2346 - Verbal warning given to ALEXANDER HAVENS at Seward Highway for speed.

May 27

0020 - DEVIN MONROE LOOMIS was charged with DUI and MICS IV at Seward Highway and Sea Lion Drive. It was determined that LOOMIS had been in a fight previous to the traffic stop; an ambulance was dispatched and LOOMIS was taken to the hospital. Loomis was issued citation E0500005 for open container and citation E4680002 was left in the vehicle for expired registration. A friend retrieved and took possession of the vehicle.

0032 - Ambulance requested to Seward and Sea Lion Drive for a subject that has been in a fight. Officers are on scene.

0034 - Trooper requested an agency assist at Benson Drive in reference to recovery of their stolen vehicle at mile 23.

0056 - Officer provided transportation to the hospital for subject after the driver of the vehicle she was in, was taken to the hospital.

0624 - A parking complaint was issued to AK/LIC KBC785 for parking against flow of traffic at Fifth and Washington.

1024 - RP requested an Officer to the Seward Military Resort for a report of a truck towing a boat parked in a no parking zone. Citation issued to KENT KOERNER for failure to register vehicle.

1207 - RP turned in a camera tripod he found.

1354 - RP reported that there was a power outage out at the Old Saw Mill on Nash Rd. On duty electrician was advised. Power was restored.

1445 - Citation issued to KWANGSOOK SCHAEFERMEYER in regards to a previous case (17-0917).

1626 - RP reported that his sons Ipad mini 4 was stolen from in front of the Breeze Inn, yesterday, while his son was working on the flower gardens between 1 and 2 pm.

1846 - Citation issued to JOHNATHAN DOUGLASS YANG at Third and B Street for speed.

2306 - An earthquake magnitude 5.6 occurred 65 miles SE of Adak, Alaska, no tsunami is expected.

2318 - RP reported a white Ford pick-up with a large American flag flying out of the tailgate, spun its tires in the Safeway parking lot and then headed south on the Seward Highway toward downtown at 40-50mph. Officers were advised.

2337 - An earthquake magnitude 5.5 occurred 110 miles S of Sandpoint, Alaska, no tsunami is expected.

2353 - Citation issued to SIMON KRUEGER at 3rd and C St for speed.

May 28

0216 - RP requested an Officer referencing a possible assault. Officer was unable to contact suspect at 4th Ave.

1103 - RP found a Washington driver’s license at B St. Item logged into lost and found.

1228 - RP reported a vehicle blocking the alleyway between 4th and 5th Ave. Officer responded and found no vehicle blocking the alleyway.

1258 - SAST requested an ambulance to City Express. SVAC responded and patient was transported to the hospital.

1309 - RP reported subject was driving without a valid license on Nash Rd heading toward Salmon Creek Rd. SAST was notified and Officer was advised. Officer was unable to locate vehicle in city limits.

1401 - RP requested an Officer to 3rd Ave for report of a woman that was yelling and throwing objects at him. Officer responded and a disorderly conduct warning was given to JEANNETTE KIOKUN.

1703 - A female wanted to talk to a doctor regarding some medication she was prescribed. Caller was given the hospital number.

1814 - Caller was going to report a stack fire at the Seward Animal Clinic but it is contained. No emergency exists.

1859 - Citation issued to PHILIP R PRETI at Seward near Sea Lion for speed.

1827 - RP owner of the Chattermark Restaurant reported three customers that left without paying for $54.00 in food service.

2222 - An abandoned 911 call from Seward area in town was received. A voice mail was left upon call back.

May 29

0150 - Officer was stopped at the Chamber of Commerce and given a dog. Officer put the dog in animal control.

1141 - RP reported a possible abandoned vehicle across from 1st Avenue. Officer responded and advised vehicle is off the road and on private property.

1216 - RP advised there was an injured bald eagle near Dairy Hill. RP given ASLC Animal Hotline number.

1305 - RP, reported people driving on the beach on Lowell Point. RP given number to AST.

1307 - Harbor 360 requested an Officer for a vehicle that has been running since 0700. RP advised unable to contact guest who is staying there. Officer responded and unable to locate driver of the vehicle. RP advised to keep an eye on vehicle in case it overheats.

1435 - RP came by City Hall to report minor MVA-D at the Waterfront Campgrounds. RP came to SPD and spoke to an Officer and picked up PAR Form.

1748 - Citation issued to ANGELENA MARIE LEDET at Fourth and C Street for expired registration.

1819 - NTWC reported an earthquake magnitude 5.0, 70 miles SW of Anchorage. No tsunami expected.

1852 - Citation issued to CHRISTIAN JULIO JIMENEZ at Third and D Street for speed.

2014 - Citation issued to DENTON ALLAN SCOW at Seward Highway and Bear Drive for speed.

2225 - Parking warning left on GPT744 at Fourth and Washington for parking where official traffic control device prohibit.
