Jewel will headline Salmonfest

 


Jewel Kilcher will headline the 2017 Salmonfest, which takes place Aug. 4-6 in Ninilchik, the festival announced last week.

The country, folk and pop singer-songwriter was raised in Homer. Her family, the Kilchers, is followed on The Discovery Channel’s “Alaska: The Last Frontier.” Atz Kilcher, Jewel’s father, first lived in Seward when he moved to Alaska, but later relocated to Homer.

The Grammy-nominated artist has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Jewel’s latest album is 2015’s “Picking Up the Pieces.” She rose to stardom in 1995 with her debut album “Pieces of You,” which featured the hits “Who Will Save Your Soul?” “Foolish Games” and “You Were Meant for Me.”

Also an author, poet and actress, Jewel’s most recent book is the memoir “Never Broken.” She stars in Hallmark Movies and Mysteries’ “Fixer Upper Mystery” series and played June Carter Cash in the TV movie “Ring of Fire.”
