It’ll be another special weekend at the movies for Seward-area residents, beginning on Friday.

Among the shows to be aired will be WaveMania, which will start at 6 p.m. That show will be followed by The Shallows at 8 p.m.

Courtesy of the Alaska SeaLife Center Family Science Night and Wells Fargo bank, admission to the first movie will be free of charge. The price for tickets to the second movie will be $2 per person. Both shows will be presented at the UAF – Seward Marine Center on 3rd Ave at Railway.Ave.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for WaveMania and 7:30 p.m. for The Shallows.

Concessions are be provided by the Seward Prevention Coalition. Proceeds from the concession sales will go to support local non-profits.

Additionally, organizers are looking for long-term volunteers that would like to help with the core group. It would involve being working at the movies once or twice a month, helping select future movies, learning the projector, making announcements before the movies..
