The Seward Seahawks added a special note to their 2016 football season on Saturday in Homer. They became a playoff squad.

The Seahawks nailed down their fourth consecutive victory and, more importantly, clinched one of the Peninsula Conference's two postseason berths by grinding out a 24-0 victory over the Voznesenka Cougars. With the victory, Seward improved to 4-3 for the year and to 3-0 in conference play.

The win also set up a key showdown this weekend with the Nikiski Bulldogs for the conference championship. A win over the Bulldogs would give Seward the conference's No. 1 seed and give them a first-round matchup with Aurora Conference runner-up Houston in the first round. A loss would give Nikiski the conference title and send Seward against defending state champion Eielson in the opening round.

Voznesenka fell to 1-5 and 1-3 with the loss.
