The Seward Senior Center will be offering a 10-week health and well-being package to all adult residents age 50 and over. The program is called the Aging Mastery Program and it was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA).

This is a wonderful opportunity for older adults to participate in, and reap the benefits of, this cutting-edge wellness program. We are currently seeking adults to participate in the educational program. The goal of this program is to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes. The classes will explore navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advance planning, healthy relationships, falls prevention, and community engagement. Guest speakers will enhance and underscore the curriculum. For each of these classes, we will provide basic educational materials developed from highly trusted sources, a checklist of action steps, and a system for tracking behaviors. Participants will earn points for positive actions and rewards.

A program launch overview will be held on Oct. 13, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Seward Senior Center.

Sessions will also be offered later in October with more coming throughout the next two years.

The program is sponsored by Providence Seward Foundation.
