Seward's Michael Wilps scrambles for yardage while a Homer defender attempts to pull him down by his jersey. Wilps and the Seahawks moved into second place in the conference standings with a 22-14 win in Homer.

The Seward Seahawks find themselves in an enviable position as they head into Week 6 of the high school football season. They control their own playoff destiny.

Seward moved to within one win of potentially clinching the No. 2 playoff berth this past weekend by grinding out a 22-14 road victory over the Homer Mariners. With conference wins over Redington and Homer in hand, the Seahawks need only to upend Voznesenka next week to clinch at least second in the Peninsula Conference standings. The top two teams in the conference standings advance to the postseason.

Seward won't have to worry about conference standings on Friday. The Seahwaks will make their final non-conference appearance of the year when they face Monroe Catholic on Friday.

Monroe Catholic enters the game at 2-3, including a 64-8 loss to Barrow on Saturday.
