Helen E. Ernst, 80, of Redmond, WA, formerly of Lawing, passed on peacefully to be with Jesus on Aug. 20, 2016. She joins her beloved husband of 60 years, Peter, who passed on Feb. 9, 2015.

Family members living include son, Mark Ernst (Dawn) of Seward, and daughter, Lisa Martin (Avery) of Clear Lake, WA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jakob Ernst, Karoline Ernst, Sarah Martin, Anna Martin, Nicholas Martin (Carley), Pauline Johnson (Brett), Nathan Martin (Amy), 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and cousins.

Helen was born on July 28, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois. Helen and Peter and family moved to Lawing, Alaska, in 1973. Helen was an exceptional wife and mother, enjoying cooking and baking and travel planning for their world travels, and enjoying the Alaskan outdoors - fishing, hiking, hunting, and picking berries. They were members of Kenai Lake Baptist Church in Cooper Landing, and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Redmond, WA.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. at Emerald Heights Retirement Community in Redmond, WA. Memorial contributions may be made to Kenai Lake Baptist Church in Cooper Landing.
