Ronald B. Jackson of Seward/Lawing passed away peacefully, July 30, 2016 with his loving wife and children by his side at the age of 85. Ron was born Sept. 22, 1930 in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. Ron spent his time as a youth hunting and fishing around Cape Cod. After high school, Ron joined the Navy as an aircraft mechanic. After he left the Navy, he moved to Colorado where he attended gunsmith school.

Ron's dreams were always to move to Alaska. He arrived in Seward on Jan. 1st, 1960, and that's where he would call home for the next 56 years. Ron spent a short time working for the Forest Service, working construction/carpentry, and the State of Alaska DOC.

Ron enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and gardening and sunning himself and marlin fishing in Mexico.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Peggy; his son, Erik and is wife, Shelly, and grandchildren Maria, Ronald, and Ashley; his daughter, Laurie and husband, Joe, and grandchildren, Matthew, Derrick, Michelle, Breyer, Mariah, Kyle; and daughter, Lisa and husband, Kent, and grandchildren Jackson and Marissa, as well as eight great grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ron to be held at Chinooks Restaurant in Seward on Friday Sept. 23, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family asks if you would like to make a donation in Ron's name to: Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska, 1750 Abbot Rd., Anchorage, AK 99507.
