'Captain's Mast' - Feb. 25, 2016

 


The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Feb. 11

12:40 - Individual reported a vehicle accident at the high school.

15:09 - 911 caller reported lots of smoke coming from the area of the Cabin on the Cliff. The caller said advised it was a controlled burn. SVFD advised.

16:08 - Caller requested an officer at Madison, later corrected to Monroe, Seaview four-plex, for a person who had been trespassed, but not advised, to be removed from the premises. Officer made contact with Cheree Ann McNearney and advised her that she was criminally trespassed from Monroe four-plex indefinitely.

Feb. 12

00:43 - Individual with Evergreen Home requested an officer to assist with subject who had become elevated. Officer transported subject to the hospital.

07:22 - AST requested rescue to Mile 17 Seward Highway for a vehicle that hit the guardrail and went into the ditch.

08:47 - Verbal warning for head light requirement given at Third and B.

10:16 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Sixth. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

10:18 - Verbal warning for fail to stop at stop sign given at Safeway.

11:09 - 911 caller wanted to talk to an officer about a civil issue at Terry’s Tire. Officer spoke with the caller.

11:55 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Joshuan Wright at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Verbal warning for speed.

13:36 - 911 caller requested an officer for a disturbance at Raibow Marine.

Feb. 13

01:23 - Verbal warning for speed given at Fourth and Monroe.

01:41 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

01:56 - Verbal warning for speed and expired tags given at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

01:57 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

11:41 - Hamilton Construction called to say that there would be blasting starting at 12:45 at SMIC.

15:19 - SeaView Community Services requested a welfare check at the Evergreen Group Home, Chamberlain Drive, for subject who was reported to be combative. Officers found subject extremely agitated. She was transported to PSMC and left in the care of the medical staff under an ex parte order.

17:42 - Individual turned in a found red duffel bag containing 50 cents, a pair of boxers and men’s deodorant.

23:07 - Verbal warning for tag light requirements given at Fourth and Jefferson

23:43 - Verbal warning for speed given outside of Chevron.

Feb. 14

00:23 - Individual reported a black truck driving on Maple without head lights. Officers contacted the driver who said he was having mechanical issues.

01:14 - Officers arrested Troy Aumann for DUI on Seward Highway and South Harbor. Verbal warning for speed.

02:39 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

11:09 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

14:57 - Verbal warning for speed issued in the Safeway parking lot.

17:23 - Individual reported he lost his iPhone 6, possibly at the Yukon Bar.

17:40 - Citation for license to be carried and exhibited on demand issued to Jesus Rodriguez at Third. Verbal warning for speed and failure to use head lights on Seward Highway.

19:10 - Individual reported a confrontation at Bayside Apartments. Officers spoke with four subjects.

23:22 - Officer arrested Scott Gordon for DUI in the Ray’s Waterfront parking lot and took him to SCJ. Citation for open container and given a verbal warning for speed.

Feb. 15

00:18 - Citation for speed issued to Morag Ozery at Seward Highway and Resurrection. Verbal warnings for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to stop for an officer.

00:29 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

01:42 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.2, depth 35 miles, 25 miles south of Anchorage. No tsunami was expected.

04:57 - Individual requested an officer to Chevron after someone left heroin at the establishment. Officer contacted the reporting party who gave a description of the suspect who was heading to the Breeze Inn. Officer was able to locate the suspect in room at the Breeze Inn. Video surveillance will be collected in the morning from Chevron.

07:18 - 911 caller requested an officer to the Marina Motel about a physical altercation taking place between his roommates. Officers contacted the involved parties. Officer arrested Wayne Outwater for DV Assault IV. Medics responded and the victim denied treatment. Another subject was given a disorderly conduct warning.

10:58 - Amerigas advised that an old tank in their yard had no valve. Any odor reported was not an emergency. All was safe.

22:57 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Laughlin Way.

Feb. 16

01:09 - Verbal warning for tag light requirements given in the Harbor 360 parking lot.

02:14 - Officer contacted Paul Sewell and a juvenile in a parked vehicle on Airport Road. Sewell was arrested for Petition to Revoke Probation and DUI (drugs) and taken to SCJ.

10:30 - Individual reported his white iPod Mini in a light blue cover was missing while they were at the Hotel 360. The reporting party called at 16:30 to say it was found.

12:16 - Individual reported a single vehicle rollover, unknown injuries or entrapment, in front of the BCVFD Station. BCVFD, SVAC, AST dispatched.

12:53 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Glenn Filbert at Seward Highway and Dieckgraff Road. Verbal warning for speed.

13:25 - Citation for seatbelt issued to Michael Owens at Chinooks.

14:51 - Officer advised two people that they were on private property at the horse corrals on Phoenix.

14:52 - 911 caller wanted to talk to an officer about medications missing from her residence at Gateway Apartments.

15:30 - Individual requested to have an officer do a welfare check at Fifth.

16:43 - Caller reported a vehicle weaving all over the road between Bayside Apartments and Three Bears. Officers located the vehicle at Mile 1.5 Seward Highway. Verbal warning issued for failure to maintain lane.

Feb. 17

01:00 - Verbal warning for crossing center line given on Lowell Point Road.

02:05 - Verbal warning for speed given in Chinooks parking lot.

06:58 - 911 caller requested a number. She was advised to call the non-emergency line and reminded of the appropriate uses of 911.

12:26 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

12:58 - Investigative stop on a subject driving a vehicle the end of Afognak.

13:15 - Officer requested case number for MICS IV at SCJ.

16:00 - Summons for Assault IV on Feb. 12 issued to David Raymond Phillips. Case was previously listed as a disturbance.

16:20 - Caller from New Hampshire requested assistance locating her brother to advise him of his wife’s death. Officer located subject and gave the death notification.

16:39 - Individual made a patrol request for high school kids throwing debris on her house on Second. The reporting party said they just left but she would like to talk with an officer about what can be done as she was afraid someone was going to get hurt.

19:34 - Verbal warning for head light out issued at Third and Van Buren.

23:26 - Individual reported a power outage at Bear Lake Road.

23:56 - Citation for speed issued to James Wilcox at Seward Highway and Airport Road.

Feb. 18

00:47 - Verbal warning for failure to maintain own lane given on Seward Highway near BCVFD.

01:40 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Oliver Smith at South Harbor and Seward Highway. Verbal warning for speed.

01:51 - 911 caller requested an officer to Lowell Canyon where she said are two men were outside her door. Officers responded and found no one near the residence.

02:16 - Verbal warning for inoperable tail lights given at Fourth and Madison.

02:16 - Citation for expired registration issued to Helen Stewart in the Breeze Inn parking lot. Stewart was also issued a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance, but it was voided after she found her card.

03:27 - 911 caller requested an officer to Lowell Canyon where she said a man was outside of her residence looking into her window. Officers responded and found the claim to be unfounded. The caller’s son was contacted to care for her.

07:12 - Individual requested a welfare check on his juvenile daughter who was staying with her mother on Fifth. He had been unable to contact his daughter for four to five days.

07:55 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and Van Buren.

12:01 - Alaska SeaLife Center made a 911 call test to confirm the information for them was accurate.

18:02 - Owner of Suds and Swirl requested an officer to view a video tape of people smoking marijuana in the store.

18:58 - Ambulance requested at the airport to transport the flight crew. ETA 19:30.

19:11 - PSMC requested a welfare check on an employee who did not show up for work.
