'Captain's Mast' - Feb. 11, 2016

 


The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Jan. 28

17:06 - Individual requested an officer to the Fish House about a man found shoplifting. Officer contacted suspect Claus Birkholz who was arrested for Concealment of Merchandise and taken to SCJ. Birkholz was also criminally trespassed from the Fish House indefinitely.

22:06 - 911 caller requested assistance with his roommate who he said had not slept in four days and was hallucinating. Ambulance was staged. Officers contacted both parties and found the call to have originated from a misunderstanding.

Jan. 29

09:22 - Verbal warning for fail to stop at stop sign given at chamber.

11:44 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and Aspen.

12:05 - Citation for fail to wear seat belt issued to William Johnson at Seward Highway and Dairy Hill. Verbal warning for fail to carry registration.

13:44 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Jean Labno at Seward Highway and Van Buren. Verbal warning for speed.

13:50 - Seward Mountain Haven had a scheduled fire alarm at Raven Lodge.

14:58 - TCI Towing was repossessing a vehicle at Fourth behind Apollo Restaurant.

15:27 - Citation for seatbelt and fail to carry proof of insurance issued to Irvin Kreider at the South 72-Hour Lot.

15:42 - Citations for seatbelt and proof of insurance issued to Michael Dunn at the Breeze Inn. Verbal warning for not obtaining an Alaska license after 30 days.

16:29 - 911 reported her vehicle stolen from First National Bank Anchorage at Fourth and Adams. She had left the vehicle running while she went into the bank and didn’t see who took it. Officers found the vehicle in front of Starbird Studios running with no one in it. Officers searched the downtown area looking for possible suspect. The reporting party also turned in medication for destruction.

17:52 - Seward Mountain Haven requested an non-emergency transport from Lupine Lodge to PSMC.

18:36 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

18:36 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Michelle Lynne Wilson at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

19:19 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Nariko Erizabesu Jackson at Fourth and C.

19:25 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Stephanie Renee Schilling at Seward Highway and South Harbor Street. Verbal warning for expired registration.

21:20 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.1, 55 miles northwest of Homer. No tsunami was expected.

21:58 - Citation for speed issued to Thomas Theodore Stafford at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

Jan. 30

02:00 - Individual reported he saw a subject drinking at Tony’s Bar for an extended period of time. The reporting party said he then saw subject taking a taxi from the Yukon Bar heading north. Officer spoke with the reporting party. The reporting party called back and said it was mistaken identity and that another person was driving the taxi.

11:11 - Citation for tail light requirements issued to Camerson Caro outside the Chamber of Commerce. Verbal warnings for speed and failure to obtain an Alaska driver’s license.

14:05 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and Jefferson.

14:14 - Citation for speed issued to Jordan Hoffner at the Chamber of Commerce.

18:03 - Citation for no proof of insurance issued to Gary Lynn Roberts at Seward Highway and Resurrection Boulevard. Verbal warning for no head lights after dark.

18:32 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Resurrection Boulevard.

18:42 - Verbal warning for no head lights after dark and failure to carry license issued at Third and D.

20:14 - Citation for driving with expired registration issued to Jonthomas Kerataralria Samson at Third and Van Buren. Verbal warning for speed.

20:20 - Verbal warning for no tail lights after dark issued at Seward Highway and North Harbor Street.

21:06 - Citation for tail light requirement issued to Trevor Yuzhun Evanoff at Second and A.

21:24 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Mile 2 Seward Highway.

Jan. 31

00:02 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Kenneth Schoening at Essential One parking lot.

00:29 - Officers arrested Thomas Christman at Third and Jefferson on DUI charges. Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign.

01:54 - Officer arrested Michael Behm at Seward Highway and South Harbor on DUI charges. Verbal warning for speed.

09:43 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Dirk Allen Yatchmeneff at Seward Highway and Sea Lion. Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign.

10:22 - Citation for speed issued to Jordan Teal Rupp at Third and Van Buren.

10:44 - While on traffic stop an individual contacted the officer to say there was an intoxicated pedestrian at Fourth and Van Buren. Officer contacted the subject and furnished transportation to Salmon Creek Trailer Park.

Feb. 1

01:55 - Officer contacted a driver near Second and advised him he was not to provide taxi fares until he obtained a valid chauffeur’s license.

02:12 - Verbal warning for tag light requirements given at Mile 2 Seward Highway. He was also going 25 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, but said that everything was OK.

09:15 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and Monroe.

18:31 - Individual requested that an officer patrol near Fourth for a suspicious male, approximately 30 years old wearing a stocking cap and walking bow legged. He had gone up and down the street and through the alley four or five times. Officer patrolled the area but did not locate the subject.

22:34 - Verbal warning for speed and turn signal issued at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

Feb. 2

00:18 - Reporting party called back to report the suspicious male had returned. Officer contacted the subject who said he recently moved to an apartment in the area but forgot his key. The officer provided the subject with transportation to Lowell Canyon Road and left him in the care of a friend.

08:58 - Individual turned in expired medication for destruction.

08:58 - Individual wanted to talk to an officer about a civil matter. Officer spoke with the reporting party.

09:03 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Robert Mackey at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

09:24 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and C.

10:47 - Fire alarm reported at Seward Elementary School. SVFD/SVAC dispatched. Fire Chief advised that it was a planned fire drill and they forgot to call Dispatch.

12:16 - Verbal warning for speed and fail to carry license given at Third and Jefferson.

17:28 - Caller reported Nicolette Irene Arnold had purchased alcohol at Safeway which is a violation of her conditions of release. Officer responded to Safeway but the subject had already left. Charges would be forwarded. At 20:10 Arnold spoke with an officer and picked up a summons.

17:38 - 911 – Ambulance, fire department and officer responded to Fourth.

23:15 - PSMC called to request a welfare check on a subject who left before treatment and seemed depressed but not suicidal or homicidal. Officer contacted the subject and transported him back to the hospital for treatment.

Feb. 3

06:15 - Caller reported she had wrecked her car near Mile 3 Nash Road. Officer responded.

11:36 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.7, 85 miles northeast of Iliamna. No tsunami reported.

17:52 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Ronald Telposky at Chevron on Third. Verbal warnings for failure to carry license and head light requirement.

Feb. 4

01:43 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Kevin Coe at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Verbal warnings for failure to dim brights and head light requirements.

09:37 - Citation for fail to submit license on demand issued to Tess Tulley at Seward Highway and Coolidge.

10:35 - Citation for seatbelt issued to John Hughes at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

12:04 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Seward Elementary School. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

12:34 - Citation for seatbelt issued to Michael Lunardi at Fourth and Madison.

12:55 - Verbal warning for seatbelt given at Fourth and B.

12:58 - Individual requested an officer to Cedar for a domestic disturbance in progress. Officer responded and advised that Nolan Ogle-Endresen was arrested for Assault IV DV and Resisting Arrest, and taken to SCJ..
