The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Dec. 30

23:29 - Citation for failure to provide Insurance issued to Hunter Riley Kratz at Seward Highway and Aspen. Verbal warning for head light requirement, violation of provisional license and failure to carry registration.

Dec. 31

02:08 - Verbal warning for inoperable head light at Seward Highway and Hemlock Street.

08:57 - PSMC did a scheduled fire drill.

10:50 - Individual turned in expired medication to be destroyed.

15:40 - Caller reported rottweillers running loose around Second. A message was left with the owner of the dogs and the ACO officer was dispatched.

16:53 - Individual requested an officer for civil standby on Fourth.

17:43 - Two young women went into the police department to report a robbery which took place outside of local jurisdiction. Troopers were contacted and responded. Officers accompanied troopers to the suspect’s last known location but were unable to contact him.

19:28 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and Aspen.

23:30 - Verbal warning for speed and failure to carry driver’s license given at Third and Madison.

23:50 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Jan. 1

00:15 - Verbal warning for head light out issued at Seward Highway and South Harbor Streets.

00:18 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign issued at Third and Monroe.

00:28 - 911 caller requested an ambulance at the Yukon Bar. SVAC and SVFD dispatched and an officer responded. Officer canceled SVAC

00:38 - Race Pepper Taylor Ramsey given a summons arrest at Seward Highway and South Harbor for MCA and one for MOCA. License seized.

00:46 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Dairy Hill.

00:51 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at stop sign issued on Second near Adams.

00:56 - Yukon Bar bouncer requested that an officer to trespass an individual from the Yukon Bar indefinitely.

02:17 - Verbal warning for speed and head light out issued at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

02:38 - Edgardo Gonzalez arrested for DUI at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

03:00 - SCCC advised that there would be night tower shooting going on from SCCC.

03:38 - Caller reported she got a call from her daughter from a strange number. Her daughter was in Seward with her boyfriend. Daughter said upon call back from the mother that she was outside of the Yukon waiting for a cab and her boyfriend had left her. The mother said her daughter sounded inebriated and was with two unknown males. The mother tried calling back again but received no response. The mother requested an officer drive by the Yukon to see if she was there. Officer said there was no one outside the bar or anywhere nearby. Contact was made with the mother to advise her daughter was nowhere in the vicinity. The daughter was of age.

12:21 - Verbal warning for speed given at the Chevron parking lot.

15:31 - Caller reported a young golden retriever running loose on Third.

15:58 - An individual picked up the dog near No Sweatt Auto and met the officer at the shelter. The owner showed up before the dog could be put in the shelter.

18:07 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Second and Van Buren.

20:02 - Providence Seward requested an officer to detain a patient who was trying to leave the hospital. He was on a 72-hour hold.

20:25 - Troopers requested agency assist to serve a search warrant on Eagle Lane. Trooper canceled until a later date.

21:00 - A transformer on Iron was sparking and power was was out on Bear Drive and Iron while it was repaired.

21:27 - Reporting party had hospital personnel call to request an officer. He was still restrained but was trying to tip the bed over. He was requesting an officer.

23:09 - Individual requested a welfare check on his kids at Bayside Apartments. The children were fine when officer arrived.

23:15 - Individual reported water over the highway between the Pit Bar and the Bear Creek Firehall. DOT notified.

23:32 - Land slide on Lowell Point Road about half way down. The road was impassable.

23:41 - Individual reported a power outage at Wolf Trail.

Jan. 2

00:34 - 911 caller reported power was out on Nash Road.

00:38 - Road conditions: SMIC, 2 to 3 inches of snow.

00:38 - Electrical crew said there was large tree on the line on Nash Road. Another grid of power would need to be taken down in order to fix but he would call back when that happened. Generators would not be started.

00:44 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Kristopher George Peck at Second and Jefferson.

01:23 - 911 caller reported that power was out at Mile 2 Nash Road.

01:51 - Electrical department called SPD Dispatch to state that power should be restored to Nash Road/Nash Woods area.

03:45-08:00 - Power out down in SPD Dispatch. All communications was down.

08:13 - SAST requested an officer check Mount Marathon for a red light. A call had come into SAST at 04:20 advising of a steady red light on Marathon. SPD officer responded and advised that the light is most likely the red Christmas star.

08:38 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Bayview Trailer Park. SVAC responded

08:53 - Ambulance requested to pick up a flight crew at the airport and provide transportation to and from the hospital.

10:42 - 911 caller asked to be transferred to Anchorage 911, advising of domestic violence in progress between her son and his father. The caller was transferred to SAST, who were able to patch her through to Anchorage 911.

10:54 - Officer received a call from the manager of Wells Fargo who advised him that their alarm system had gone off at 04:00. Officer checked the building and advised that it was secure.

11:00 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given at Safeway parking lot.

13:39 - Citation for muffler requirements issued to Matthew Perkins at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Verbal warning for expired registration.

13:56 - SAST requested an officer to Essential One to assist a trooper with a traffic stop involving a wanted suspect. Officer responded. Christopher Campbell was taken into custody for DV Assault IV, Robbery, Theft II and Theft III and taken to SCJ.

15:26 - Ambulance requested to Laughlin Way.

17:33 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Madison.

18:54 - Individual reported that she arrived home and found her husband intoxicated. She said it was an ongoing problem with his alcohol consumption. Verbal only. Both parties would remain in the home that night.

20:40 - Verbal warning for driving with head lights off after dark issued at Third and South Harbor.

Jan. 3

09:30 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given on Seward Highway at Three Bears.

10:00 - Erick Scott Antrim advised of his trespass from Safeway.

14:00 - Verbal warning for speed issued on Seward Highway at Airport Road.

14:29 - Reporting party reportedly involved in a vehicle accident in an unknown location. SAST requested an agency assist to Bayview Trailer Park where the reporting party was with his brother. No criminal charges.

15:39 - Individual requested an officer to the hospital where he said he was being held against his will. A few minutes later the hospital called and said the reporting party was disoriented.

23:08 - Individual went into the police station concerned that she may have been drugged. She spoke with the officer and turned down a ride home, as well as medical attention.

Jan. 4

00:41 - An individual returned to the police station with her roommate. An officer spoke with both parties before transporting the reporting party to PSMC, where she was left in the care of the medical staff.

01:27 - Guardian advised of a commercial fire alarm sounding on Fourth. Fire personnel responded, found the cause to be burnt popcorn and reset the alarm.

01:27 - Caller from Mike’s Taxi reported three males outside Tony’s hit his cab whilst fighting amongst themselves. The caller was shoved after confronting the men, who left on foot while the caller was calling the police. Officer spoke with the caller and bartender before searching for the men down Lowell Point Road. Officer was unable to locate them.

03:43 - 911 caller requested an officer to her apartment at Kimberly Court after her boyfriend barged in and started yelling at her. Officer spoke with the caller. The boyfriend had already left the residence on foot. The caller said that it was only verbal and that the boyfriend would most likely not return that night.

09:38 - Verbal warning for speed given at Fourth and Harbor 360 Hotel.

09:55 - Verbal warning for fail to stop at stop sign given at Chevron.

10:45 - David Mathieson arrested at city hall on an SAST warrant, Obstruct Court Order, OC DWLR, No bail and taken to SCJ.

12:53 - Officer advised Aaron Henderson his driver license status.

13:02 - Citation for proof of insurance issued to Christopher Carreaux at Fourth and Ballaine. Verbal warning for head light requirement.

16:02 - Citation for operating a vehicle against provisional license requirements issued to Jolan Ludvick Rotter at Third and C. Verbal warning for head light requirement and window tint.

16:23 - 911 caller for medical transport to Lawing Drive. SVAC and MPVFD responded.

16:29 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Maile Atkinson Transonic Dairy Hill Lane. Verbal warning for speed.

17:58 - Caller reported a black Blazer with a strong odor of pot in the Safeway parking. Officer responded but did not make contact with the vehicle.

22:32 - Road Condition: About 400 pounds of rock on Lowell Point Road at the waterfall. The road was passable. Rocks were actively falling.

Jan. 5

08:45 - 911 caller requested an ambulance. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

09:45 - Officer assisted AST in serving a search warrant at Eagle Lane.

12:23 - Individual reported a domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of Third. Officer responded and advised the male left the residence. Verbal argument only.

14:41 - Officer performed civil standby for subject to pick up his check.

17:01 - Caller reported where a subject who was wanted for two $5,000 warrants could be found.

Jan. 6

00:43 - Individual requested an officer to Pacific Parks Apartment about loud noises coming from an apartment. Officer contacted the residents and requested they keep the noise down.

00:58 - Officer contacted Bryan Corrigan parked in a vehicle by the pump station on Lowell Point Road with a passenger. Corrigan was arrested for DUI and taken to SCJ. Passenger opted to walk home.

08:28 - PSMC requested an ambulance to the airport to meet LifeMed. SVAC dispatched.

15:44 - Individual reported the tires on her daughter’s black jeep Cherokee parked on Jefferson near the Teen Rec Center were slashed. There were witnesses and suspects. Investigation continued.

17:04 - Individual reported that a subject threatened to assault her son. He was walking home from TYC. Contact was made with the suspect who went to SPD for an interview.

17:53 - Earthquake: Magnitude 5.0, 69 miles southeast of Adak. No tsunami was expected.

Jan. 7

05:55 - Verbal warning for speed and failure to carry license given on Seward Highway and Hemlock.

08:34 - Individual requested an officer to check on her residence on Fifth. Officer responded and advised that the residence was secured.

09:43 - SeaView requested a welfare check on a subject. Officer responded, advised all was OK and the subject would call SeaView.

13:55 - Individual reported that her dark green Ford Ranger went into the ditch at Mile 1.5 Nash Road. No injuries. Reporting party given the number to AST

16:38 - Caller notified the officer of a large party at 2nd Lake Park with fireworks going off. Officers contacted several people. They were not involved but heard the fireworks and went to the area to see. Officers did not find anyone with fireworks.

17:22 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Kristopher Everet Staples on Seward Highway at Resurrection.

18:50 - Citation for driving with out of state license after 90 days issued to Larry Dee Fielding on Seward Highway at Resurrection Blvd.

19:29 - Verbal warning for speed issued on Seward Highway at Coolidge.
