The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Oct. 14

23:04 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Christian Jordan Olsen at Third and Jefferson. Verbal warning for speed.

Oct. 15

02:02 - Officers arrested Erick Antrin on DUI charges at Second and A. .

09:55 - Seward Fisheries did a fire drill.

10:15 - Seward Middle School did a fire drill.

11:52 - NAPA reported a possible intoxicated driver who left the store in a black 1994 Nissan Pathfinder with a snowplow on the front. Unknown direction of travel.

22:49 - Individual reported that he manages Marathon Apartments and that one of the tenants thought their door had been tampered with. They did not want to pursue it further.

Oct. 16

08:30 - Parks and Recreation recovered a blue bike found at the Wellington Pavilion. Bike was put at the bike rack.

09:10 - Fire Chief issued a burn permit to the city dump for Oct. 16 and 17.

10:11 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.0, 105 mile northeast of Old Crow, Yukon Territory. No tsunami was expected.

15:45 - Citation for driving the wrong way on a one-way street given to Holly Chappell at Seward Highway and Resurrection.

15:52 - Individual reported that his blue Schwinn Passage road bike had been stolen from William’s Tent Campground.

17:44 - Citation for expired registration issued to Patricia Thorn and left on her car which was parked in a no-parking zone in front of Alaska SeaLife Center. Written warning was left for parking in a no-parking zone.

23:20 - 911 caller requested an officer to the Taroka Inn for a dispute he had with his girlfriend who had left the area. Officer contacted the reporting party, who wanted his girlfriend to pick up the baby while the officer was present. She would not take the baby and the reporting party said he would care for the child for the night. No crime was committed.

Oct. 17

08:37 - Verbal warning for speed given at the Chamber of Commerce lot.

08:56 - Verbal warning for speed given in the Safeway parking lot.

11:26 - Citation for speed issued to Merced Lopez Jr. at Seward Highway and Bear Drive.

12:00 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Randall Wester in front of the Coffee Cup. Verbal warning for speed.

14:22 - Citation for speed issued to Darryl Newman outside of Three Bears.

14:48 - Citation for speed issued to Rachel Ebbett at Seward Highway and Bear Drive.

18:06 - Citation for speed issued to Sarah Holly Moore at Third and Jefferson. Verbal warning for expired tags.

18:27 - Verbal warning for speed given at the Chamber of Commerce.

18:36 - Citation for speed issued to Dylan Leonard Baggett at Essential One.

Oct. 18

03:20 - Officers arrested Ledwina Beaver on charges of domestic violence assault. Individual with Harbor 360 Hotel reported an intoxicated female came into the lobby and asked her to call 911. The female then grabbed a fire extinguisher and left the lobby. Beaver was taken to SCJ.

06:20 - Ambulance requested to Lowell Canyon Road.

11:28 - Citation for speed issued to Patrick Cavaliere at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

11:38 - Individual reported a tree fell on her property and was touching the power line pole at Seward Highway.

11:48 - Officer contacted Tamara McDaniel at Third and Van Buren, and advised her of her suspended status.

18:08 - Verbal warning for speed issued at the Chamber of Commerce.

21:17 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Juliana Sarah Kim at Terry’s Tire. Verbal warning for speed.

Oct. 19

03:06 - Individual requested an officer to Harbor 360 Hotel for an intoxicated female. Officer spoke with the intoxicated female and her husband, who would take care of her for the night.

06:40 - Verbal warning for failure to come to complete stop at stop sign given at Seward Highway and Jefferson.

09:24 - Citation for speed issued to Jordan Matthew Goldberg on the Seward Highway at Leirer Road.

10:25 - Citation for speed issued to Ronald James Stallings at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Verbal warning for inoperable speedometer.

10:30 - Power was reported out at the airport at the Hamilton Hanger. A loud explosion was heard when a transformer blew out across from the hanger.

16:11 - Ambulance requested to the Farm B&B. SVAC/BCVFD dispatched.

17:39 - Citation for speed issued to Frank Broshat Seward Highway and Airport Road.

20:50 - Verbal warning for speed given at Third and Jefferson.

Oct. 20

01:19 - Citation for headlight requirements issued to Samuel Woodson in Three Bears parking lot.

02:06 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Evergreen Group Home.

14:04 - Earthquake: Magnitude 7.3 in Vanuatu Islands. No tsunami was expected.

14:22 - Polar Seafoods reported a vehicle was parked on their property and they needed it moved. Officer advised that the vehicle was on private property and Polar Seafoods would have the vehicle impounded.

19:28 - Caller reported he could see two lights coming down Mount Alice. Officer contacted two people at the trailhead who told him that two more were headed down the mountain and that they did not need help.

19:44 - Citation for no vehicle insurance issued to David Alan Bartley on the Seward Highway at Sea Lion. Verbal warning for head light requirement.

Oct. 21

01:05 - Officer contacted two subjects, one a juvenile, who were parked on Airport Road. After passing FSTs, driver left the area. The juvenile was transported home by the officer.

06:41 - Individual reported that his camo wallet was stolen out of his company vehicle during the night. The vehicle was parked in the Breeze Inn parking lot and the wallet contained a company credit card.

11:45 - Individual on a 16-foot SeaRunner called for help on Channel 16 reporting large waves knocking their boat around near Lowell Point. Seward Harbormaster sent a harbor boat to check on them. USCG also advised. Trooper vessel, Sea Warden, contacted the boat and reported everything was OK and they would escort the vessel back to Seward.

12:27 - SCCC reported they had a fire alarm sounding due to a duct detector. SCCC advised they did not need SFD.

13:58 - Individual reported fraud.

15:04 - Officer requested a case number for harassment at the school.

17:07 - 911 caller reported three moose in the vicinity of Maple Street. She said that they were eating things in the yards of the neighborhood. She requested that an officer scare them away.

18:13 - Breeze Inn advised that their sprinkler system would be down for the night so that some changes could be made. They would be on 24-hour fire watch.

21:59 - Verbal warning for driving in the turn lane issued at Seward Highway and Sea Lion.

Oct. 22

07:41 - Verbal warning for speed given near the high school.

09:00 - Burn permit issued to Parks and Rec for a burn at Forest Acres Campgrounds for the day only.

10:50 - A police department in Washington requested that an officer to notify a subject that a relative passed away.

12:38 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Mountain Haven, Eagle Lodge. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

14:00 - 911 caller reported a two-vehicle accident with damage at Harbor Light Condos with one vehicle leaking fluid. Officer, SVFD/SVAC dispatched. Fire Chief canceled SVAC and remaining SVFD personnel.

16:54 - Citation for speed issued to Anthony Wayne Summers on Seward Highway at Sea Lion.

17:50 - Citation for speed issued to Rolf Baird Bardarson on the Seward Highway at Dairy Hill.

23:35 - Verbal warning for speed issued on the Seward Highway at North Harbor.

Oct. 23

02:49 - Individual requested an ambulance to Mountain Haven, Eagle Lodge. SVAC/SVFD dispatched.

17:43 - Verbal warning for brake light requirements given at Third and Van Buren.

18:00 - Citation for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to provide proof of insurance issued to James Conant Jr. in Safeway parking lot. Verbal warning for failure to provide proof of registration.

21:47 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Raymon Cross in Safeway parking lot. Verbal warning for tail light requirements.

23:11 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor

23:23 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Katrina Smith at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Verbal warning for speed.
