The following is from the journals of the Seward Police Department. Those who have been arrested or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Jan. 6

09:22 - Storm Chasers called advising they would be burning during the day.

14:33 - Individual turned in expired medication to be destroyed.

15:43 - Individual complained about the smoke from the burn at Storm Chasers.

18:42 - Individual requested an ambulance for a non-emergency transport for a 57-year-old woman with abdominal pain in the 14500 block of Seward Highway.

Jan. 7

00:20 - Ambulance requested to the airport to transport Life Flight to the hospital.

04:20 - AST requested and officer to assist them in the 10500 block of Bear Paw Circle with an altercation.

11:35 - Guardian Security reported a burglar alarm sounding at the TYC. Officer responded and advised all doors were secure.

14:37 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 300 block of Railway for a female having a seizure. SVFD/SVAC dispatched.

15:51 - Citation for head light requirement given to Jimmie Rex Wayne, Sr. on Seward Highway near Sea Lion.

19:19 - Verbal warning for head light requirement given at Third and Jefferson.

19:24 - Citation for taillight requirement issued to Donald Fredrick Potter at Third and Washington.

20:03 - Power outage in the Sixth and Jefferson area, and in the 300 block of Fifth. Power and water notified

22:08 - AVTEC dorm attendant reported they detained a minor who had been consuming alcohol. Officer contacted Ryan Wissing and issued him a MCA citation. PBT .116

Jan. 8

06:32 - Verbal warning for speed and failure to stop at a stop sign given at Seward Highway and Hemlock.

09:45 - FM25 reported a tanker rollover at Mile 25 Seward Highway. FM25 said nothing was leaking from tanker and it was off the road. Troopers and MPVFD dispatched.

10:05 - Individual reported a suspicious camper parked in the Nazarene Church parking lot. Officer contacted the camper. Property owners wanted the vehicle removed. Officer placed an abandoned vehicle notice on camper.

11:39 - Yukon Fire doing fire alarm testing at the Marina Motel.

12:36 - 911 caller requested an ambulance for a 74-year-old woman having a possible stroke. BCVFD/SVAC dispatched.

14:21 - 911 caller reported two males trying to break into a pickup truck in the 300 block of Fifth.

15:16 - University of Fairbanks Police/Fire reported a fire alarm at the Orca Building. Reporting party called and said it was a false alarm. Fire Chief notified and responded. Alarm reset.

18:03 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Nick August Carlson on the Seward Highway near Dairy Hill Road. Verbal warning for failure to carry registration.

18:54 - Citation for tail light violation issued to Jamie Ileen Fredrickson at Third and A.

22:40 - Individual reported a theft of pigs ears and liquor from Safeway. Suspect trespass noted.

Jan. 9

10:49 - City employee went to SPD for random drug testing.

14:08 - Verbal warning for speed given at Safeway.

16:05 - Individual flagged down an officer near GCI about a hit and run. Suspect driver returned to the scene.

17:38 - Verbal warning for failure to illuminate head lights after dark given on Third near Marina Motel.

19:11 - Verbal warning for failure to illuminate head lights after dark given in Safeway parking lot.

19:17 - Verbal warning for head light requirements given on Third near Bayside.

19:31 - Officer requested a case for drugs found at the high school.

19:55 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to Bear Creek for a 65-year-old man with chest pains.

20:42 - Verbal warning for speed given at Fifth and Madison.

20:48 - Verbal warning for head light requirements given on Seward Highway near Chamber of Commerce.

21:56 - Citation for failure to provide proof of insurance issued to Mario Concepcion at Mile 1 Seward Highway. Concepcion and passenger given verbal warnings for seat belts.

Jan. 10

00:48 - 911 caller, a nurse from Mountain Haven, about 70-year-old woman with difficulty breathing, with low respiratory rate and pulse. SVAC and SVFD dispatched and patient transported to hospital.

02:04 - Officer contacted a subject in a vehicle at Dimond Boulevard and Sea Lion. He said he was waiting for someone to pick him and his vehicle up.

02:08 - Off duty officer reported a fight outside of the Sea Bean on Fourth between two males. Both were given disorderly conduct warnings. Oliver Godnig arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to SCJ.

11:18 - Officer contacted a person at the post office who requested a welfare check on a subject on First. Officer found the house vacant and the phone disconnected. Both vehicles registered to him had registrations that expired several years ago. Subject was found at an apartment on Fifth and he was OK.

11:42 - 911 caller wanted to know if a male subject was in jail. She was advised to call the business line so she could be transferred to the jail.

12:21 - Citation for speed issued to Christina Gross at Third and Adams.

14:16 - Anonymous complainant reported trash all along the alley in the 500 block between Madison and Monroe, and Ballaine and Sixth.

15:22 - PSMC requested an ambulance at the airport for a transport. ETA was one hour.

16:24 - Individual requested a welfare check on her sister whom she has not been able to contact since around noon, after receiving a concerning Facebook message Before officer arrived at the residence, her sister phoned and said that she had been contacted and that a welfare check was no longer needed.

19:15 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 33900 block of Tiehacker for a 42-year-old man who momentarily lost consciousness and stopped breathing.

21:30 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 11800 block of Nash Road for a female complaining of pain in her leg from a three-day-old laceration.

21:50 - Trooper arrested Frank Duarte at Mile 3 Seward Highway for DUI and took him to SCJ.

23:17 - Verbal warning for tag light requirements at Fifth and Monroe.

23:55 - AST advised that a trooper contacted David Chaney and advised him he was trespassed from Safeway.

Jan. 11

03:07 - Simply Safe Alarm Co. reported an interior motion alarm on Ash. They were unable to contact the owner. Officer responded to the residence and found the perimeter secure. Officer was unable contact anyone inside the residence which appeared vacant.

03:25 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 1000 block of Third for a 55-year-old woman with chest pain who had cancer. SVAC/SVFD transported patient to the hospital.

10:15 - An attempt was made to serve a summons on subject. She was to come to SPD on Feb. 8 to pick it up. No one was home.

11:25 - Contact made with the resident in the 500 block of Ballaine about the trash and the officer was told that they were taking care of it.

12:00 - Safeway reported there was a very old dog tied up behind the store near the semi-trucks. It had no food or water. Animal control responded.

14:23 - 911 caller asked for the numbers to the SPD admin line and the state troopers. After talking with an officer she said that there was a puppy stuck on the ice in the marsh area of Nash Road. Referred to state troopers

14:25 - Individual reported a white GMC pickup blocking the alley behind the Seward Bus Line.

14:54 - 911 caller requested an ambulane to Beach Drive on Lowell Point for a possible stroke victim. A 75-year-old man was unable to respond to answer PROQA questions.

17:46 - Individual asked of an officer to the senior center where a group of kids were loitering.

19:20 - Verbal warnings for speed and tail light requirements given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

20:08 - Verbal warning for speed given at Seward Highway and South Harbor.

23:36 - Individual reported an intoxicated male sitting on the bench outside of the Bayview Apartments. Officers contacted the subject who had a PBT of 0.334. Subject was taken into protective custody and taken to SCJ.

Jan. 12

00:34 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Third and Van Buren.

10:41 - Key box was accessed at 3200 Diamond to exchange keys. Box has been secured. Burn permit given to same address for Jan. 13 and 14.

15:58 - Ambulance requested by PSMC for a Life Med crew to Seward Airport at 16:20.

17:26 - Ambulance requested to the 33900 block of Laughlin Way for a 49-year-old woman who may have been going through DTs.

18:06 - Abandoned vehicle notice left on a vehicle on X Float Road.

18:19 - Individual requested a welfare check on her son at ATVEC. Officer contacted the son who said he would call his mother.

18:55 - Caller reported a dog bite which took place on the bike path near the pavilion. The reporting party was bit by a small/medium black and tan dog.

19:33 - Ambulance requested to the 400 block of Second for a woman who was on the floor.

20:41 - Verbal warning for speed given at Mile 1 Seward Highway.

23:03 - Individual requested a welfare check on female after she sent him a text saying she was going to overdose. Case was forwarded to SAST when it was discovered she lives out of the city. Officers responded first at the request of the trooper, who was en route. Officers contacted the female who was taken to PSMC for evaluation after the trooper arrived.

Jan. 13

02:29 - Yukon bartender reported a subject was having suicidal thoughts. Officers contacted the subject at the Pit Bar and took him to the hospital for evaluation.

15:45 - Individual turned in medications for destruction.

16:51 - Verbal warning for failure to yield when turning onto a highway from a non-roadway given in the Three Bears parking lot.

19:55 - Individual requested an officer to Little Bear Mountain Apartments about possible domestic violence in progress. Officer attempted to contact the residents but he refused to open the door. The landlord was requested to open the door so that the officer could check on the welfare of the children. All the children appeared fine.

Jan. 14

06:34 - Verbal warning for speed issued at Seward Highway and Coolidge.

13:29 - Guardian Flight reported they would be landing at Seward Airport at 14:45 and would like an ambulance for transport to PSMC.

15:40 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Julia Ann Person on Seward Highway at Sea Lion. Verbal warning for speed.

16:24 - 911 caller requested an ambulance to the 29200 block of Lawing Drive for a 94-year-old female having mini seizures.

17:38 - Verbal warning for failure to stop at a stop sign given on Seward Highway.

17:40 - A report of an intoxicated male who fell down in front of Terry’s Tire. Subject given a ride home.

18:04 - Seimens Industries was working on the alarm system at Seward Resort.

18:24 - Citation for head light requirement issued to Andrea Leigh Henderson on Seward Highway near Safeway. Verbal warning for tail light requirements and failure to change drivers license within 90 days.

18:47 - Troopers requested an agency assist in the 33900 block of Laughlin Way for a mother-daughter disturbance. Mother reported that she was assaulted by her daughter several times. Mother was hiding in the bathroom with a gun. She did not know if it was loaded but was advised to put the gun away. Trooper was responding from Cooper Landing.

Jan. 15

11:00 - A vehicle was found in the ditch near the hatchery on Railway. The vehicle was unoccupied, there was a crack in the windshield and the side airbag was deployed. Vehicle belongs to a female out of Wasilla.

13:17 - Individual reported a Suburban driving recklessly. Vehicle had moose horns on the front.

12:44 - Logan Coats given a summons arrest for driving without a license in the accident on Railway. A verbal warning given for leaving the scene of an accident and financial responsibility form was given.

13:00 - Yukon Bar turned in an envelope containing several identification cards, a U.S. Passport and several credit/debit cards that they have had for the last year.

13:43 - A juvenile reported to an officer at SHS that she was assaulted at Kimberly Court Apartments on Jan. 14. She said she was punched in the face and knocked unconscious by an unknown female.

16:54 - Troopers issued a “be on the lookout” for a subject last seen at Mile 23 Seward Highway when she ran into the woods. She had been sitting in her blue Chevy 4-door with the engine running for four hours when she was contacted by Sgt. Brown. She is revoked, advised and hostile towards law enforcement and threatened to kill law enforcement officer. She is able to move cuffs from back to front. No charges at this time.

17:45 - Earthquake: Magnitude 4.5, 30 miles Nikolski. No tsunami danger expected.

18:43 - Citation for failure to carry proof of insurance issued to Janine Ann Niebrugge on Seward Highway near South Harbor. Verbal warning for head light requirement and failure to carry driver’s license.
